Royce Union...
found this...
guy tells me he bought it new in '72 '73 on the East coast...
a Shimano Thunderbird FD and what ever on the back...
overall frame is pretty rusty but it is heavy and I can tell low end comps...
maybe I'll get a 'whole bike' pic up
the guy gave it to me... so I am out nothing except the time to haul it off...

Yeah, let's see the overall bike shot.
The rear derailleur is a Shimano Lark, which puts it in the late 60s/early 70s I think. Royce Union was a department store brand back when, on par with maybe a Free Spirit.

also, royce-union is not to be confused with union, which is a bike brand in holland, and whose bikes were on a par with gazelle and batavus until the 90s, when the union name was bought and turned into department store quality.

I rode one in the 70s. Department store stuff, heavy & needed constant fiddling to keep in tune. More fun to ride than my Varsisty of the same era. All lot better than it sounds. Wouldn't mind having another for an around town bike.

Why would you say that? My guess is 27 x 1-1/4 (or maybe 1-1/8)
