Frames without brand panto

Hi,

How common was it to produce frames without having a logo/name stamped on the frame among some of the big producers of bikes in the 80s/90s?

I know Chesini made a couple of custom bikes that only had Chesini decals.

Bikes: bianchi brava 1988. fuji track 2007, 2006 Bianchi Pista, 1987 Miele and a strida knock off

Bianchi.

I think most of the bikes from the late 80s had no actual STAMPING in the fork crowns or seat stays. They decal'd these areas.

However, the LUG connecting the headtube to the downtube has a raised "B" which i think was ONLY present on the frames made in Italy.

Would head badges count? Many makers did not stamp a brand mark onto the frame. By the 80's, even many that had used head badges were using decals.

The reason I checked was that Ive seen some frames that had all the decals/headbadges (looking legit since the frames where all old and so was the decals) but random pantos on them and everytime ive asked the sellers why, they dont know.

Ive seen one Masi and one Pinarello with nothing on them and under the bb just a serial number and 'made in italy' panto

There are so many different ways people conducted business, it is usually better to ask the specific question than the general one.

btw - I don't know the answer to that one. Most Masi's I've seen have some pantographing, but I'm hardly an expert.
