Trek 970 colors.

I need a little help from the Trek guru's. Im going to look at a Trek 970 road bike who the owner claims is the original paint but doesn't match the catalog or the table on the Vintage Trek site. Did trek ever do paint jobs different than the catalog? Like perhaps a custom or team or something? He also claims its Reynolds 753 and not Columbus. Sound fishy?

Bikes: Too many to list here check my signature.

I am no trek expert but it is possible it is a warranty frame or the color may have changed during production for some reason.

Could it be a Trek 170, I seem to recall those were made on a more custom basis.

Skidoo.
Yea the one in FC. Way to out me! Jk! I e-mailed him and gave him my number. He called and didnt really know squat about it. Said it was his dads from '83 and it was too big for him. Im going to take a risk and go see it tonight. I'd stop in and visit but am real busy tomorrow so cant dawdle... Im hoping the Campy group is super record but will let you know.

Id be thrilled if it was a 170!
