Oh, and I am still rooting for the Angels, but Sabathia is a monster. He really should have been allowed to pitch through the 9th. He deserved the complete game.

I honestly think that the initial bad call at second was the mistake and the subsequent bad call at third was "making right" for the first bad call. That happens all the time in MLB but its kinda taboo

But I also would take a step back and say that the ump calls were moot in this last game.

agreed, The bad calls didn't affect the outcome
....good thing too ...we don't take kindly to that in New York City...might have to hire some guys with a lot of vowels in their last names to make sure it doesn't happen again

Hey! That's racial stereotyping, and I find it offensive. If you don't apologize immediately, I'm gonna send Rocco and Vinnie over to have a talk with you.

My wife and I play "which actor would play him in the movie" with the teams. Forrest Whitaker is CC. Luke Wilson is Jorge. Marlo's creepy fe/male henchman from The Wire plays Erik Aybar. Ed Helms is playing Texiera. So far our favorite is Gina Gershon playing Pettite.
It's one way to cope with anti-thrill of watching the Yanks run roughshod over more likable teams.

Death fork? Naaaah!!
What, the topic isn't that the baseball season is over?
I worked in the old Boston Garden while in collage, in the era of the 'Big, Bad Bruins'. Used to chat with O'Reilly, Cashman, and Cheveers all the time. Once I let Bobby Orr and his daughter in to see the animals when the circus was in town. Left about the time Mike Milbury came up.

Not exactly a commanding performance, though Pettitte pitched well. Helped take the sting out of the Giants loss.

The Yankees played a good game and stayed out of trouble just enough to win.
Now, the errors made by the Angels seemingly didn't matter in the end. I would argue they did have an impact. Having played for a variety of generally losing teams all the way from childhood through college I will tell you nothing demoralizes a team against a good pitcher than falling behind due to errors (or walks for that matter). The Angels at the bottom of the batting order looked weak against Rivera in the 9th. That was a team normally quite strong in the comeback and rally area. They threatened earlier against Rivera in the 8th and even picked up a run (lucky for the Yankees they didn't get more). Those errors really seemed to take the wind from them.
I look forward to the World Series-- it's good to see them playing well again after a few years of drought.

The Yankees = Shimano

I still believe that in the end it will be the Yankees pitching that wins out.... last night not withstanding
it's what got them to the series and they are resilient...
