How does ITM compare to Cinelli or 3TTT
I'm starting to search for components to build an old Bianchi. I've seen enough to feel that Cinelli bars and stem are pretty classy, and that 3TTT are also a good choice. (BTW can anybody explain the difference between 3T, 3TT, & 3TTT?). But, I ran across some nice ITM bars and stem and was wondering what the forums opinion was of them?

I just fit my '87 Trek with an ITM Millenium bar coupled to a Synchros Altura Stem. The whole combination is a tick less than a pound and feels really good. I really like the ITM bar.

the official name of the brand is 3TTT (the T's stand for: Tecno Tubo Torino). Recently, it has been abbreviated to 3T (even at their web site) and I have no idea what the 3TT is... a typo?

3t, ttt ..etc. all the same. Cinelli, some seventy years ago started to dominate the scene. Not sure exactly when but by the late '70s it was apparent that the bars were a force to be reckoned with after fifteen years of ttt (Ambrosio) stems had become popular.
ITM had been in Europe for quite some time. Mig. Indurain was the single most important factor, the biggest reason that ITMs took off. He was winning tours by then, that'll do it every time. (early to mid '90s)
First TTT then ITM took a big fat wet bite outa Cinelli's butt. Modolo had too.
Stella and other bars; Scott, Ritchey etc. offered many choices not found earlier.
We can buy anything now. And as Nessism says it's more about style.

I have a Bianchi labeled black ITM stem in steel that I know was used around the mid-90's, but I don't know when they first used 'em.

Ital Manubri (ITM) makes some good bars and stems, but the brand is somewhat cheapened by the fact that they make a LOT of cheap ones for kids bikes and utility bikes. I believe they marketed Ambrosio components, too. Judge the product in hand, not the brandname.
