i have an old bike

i have an old bianchi i know nothing about. my brother told me it is from the eighties but i don't think so. is this the right forum for this? i'm trying to find out the year it was made and the model.

Post a good picture taken from the drive side, the serial number and the brands and models of the major components. Once we have that, I'm sure we can help.

serial # is 2B50086. and i can't find any "b" stamped in it anywhere.

Looks like a very low-end entry level bianchi though it is slightly better equipped than a typical huffy/murry type junker. I would guesse it is from around 1975 give or take a couple of years. Very good condition considering its age.

I so would not say that...

Universal was the leading Italian brakes manufacturer before Campagnolo started making brakes. The same with PIVO as far as stems go. A lot of early 70s Italian bikes have these components. I am not sure about the suicide brake levels, these might have been a later addition.

to the OP:
Could you please post a couple more pictures of the FD, RD, any brand names you can find on the components and any stickers that may indicate what are the tubes made of? Also, if you can post the seat post diameter, it will help.

From: Mans of NC & SW UT Desert

Bikes: 86 Katakura Silk, 87 Prologue X2, 88 Cimarron LE, 1975 Sekai 4000 Professional, 73 Paramount, plus more

+1 Mid 1970s bike boom bike. Low end with steel rims, cottered crankset, turkey levers. Similar to many European bikes from that era: Peugeot UO8, etc. A really well preserved one for sure.
