Great job! Total labor of love
speaking of the saddle... those San Marcos (looks like a Concor Team saddle) are great saddles and this particular one aesthetically puts an exclamation point to this bike (esp, if you go with perforated white handlebar tape), but (since this is for your wife) they are a bit narrow on the seat area. You might want to consider that... The Rolls is a bit more comfortable and Terry does make a woman's saddle in white (that does not look as good as this, but is more functional)...

+1 on the Sora RD. I have over 7,000 miles on one and haven't had a bit of trouble with it. Where did you get one for $8? I may have to pick up a spare at that price! By the way, the bike is looking great!

Thanks guys!
Yup, saddle was an avocet. It's got a few tears and nicks in it and isn't in that great of shape, but it will end up on her MTB - the saddle on the MTB has been through a few crashes that have eaten it up and is in worse shape than the Avocet. Plus, she wanted a white saddle There's white cork bar tape ready to go on. Didn't think of going perforated...that would look a bit better!
The saddle above is a San Marco Ischia Glamour - female specific. We'll see what she thinks of it once she can get out on it. We may have to swap out for a Terry or something else...but for now it'll work.
Got the Sora off ebay. After I won mine, I watched another go for 95 cents.....so watch for some out there, you can really get a good deal on 'em.

Thanks Didn't get to much today. Front wheel is set - just needs air in the tire. Bars are taped. Rear wheel and hub are degresed, just needs to be made shiny once again. Then the chain, finish off the rear brake and adjust the RD....should be it besides fit tweaks after that. Oh, and white bottle cages...

Wow.. I need some of that Mother's polish stuff. I spent a few hours on the crusty cranks on my old Motobecane this weekend, but the improvement isn't in the same universe as your cranks.
I'm using Blue Magic polish and tried some Nevr Dull. They are ok, but the aluminum is still cloudy, "spotted" and "dirty", if that makes sense. Nowhere near the nice finish you've achieved.

You may need to take off a layer of oxidation with increasingly finer grades of sandpaper (or steel wool - which I find is more convenient for bike stuff). Work finer until the scratches get to almost invisible levels. Then attack with the polish. Polish on its own doesn't have enough cutting power to get through most of the oxidation I come across.

Thanks again gang! Can't say I'll be near Buffalo any time soon though
But, I may, if the stars align, soon have myself a nice old Bianchi that needs some serious love. If so, there will be pics
