Removing old decals?
I am working on an old frame that surprising has an excellent paint condition, but yet the downtube decal have been quite scratched up. I found a replacement decal. What is the best method to remove the old decal (which appears to be not under a clear coat) without scratching up the paint?
Thanks

"Lift Off", don't know if it's so available, different than anything else.
I used to sell it in my stores, tried to anyway, wasn't so sought after. I have a can left. Many more oppinions will pop-up. My stuff is expressly formulated to very effectively remove stickers, price tags decals and the like. Minimal (virtually no) damage to anything else.

Stickers or water transfers???
Are you removing decals or stickers? I have removed lots of stickers, even stickers over top or other stickers. As far as decals are concerned, I have not removed just those.
To remove a sticker, warm it up with a hair dryer, work a corner loose with a fingernail and then pull the sticker off. Do not pull away from the painted surface! Rather, pull the warmed up sticker parallel to the painted surface.
I have had great results with this procedure. Hope it is a help.

Nail polish remover. Test it first on the underside of your frame.

I just removed a bunch of decals from a bike we are doing for my son's girl friend. I used Citrastrip, a mild paint remover. It took the decals right off, dulled the paint a bit, but after I detailed the lugs I cleaned it all up and gave it a good coat of clear and the thing just shines beautifully.
