cycle surgery

Rain all day yesterday, so a good day for a minor stem replacement procedure. I recently bought a nice shiney NOS (old logo!) cinelli 1A stem to replace the dull scratched 1E on my mclean. First I removed the brooks bar tape, it held up to my sweat and grime pretty well. Then remove the front brake lever (after marking the bar location). Then remove the stem/bar so I could free the bar easier by rotating the stem through the bar curves. Grease the new stem's bolts and shaft, mount on bar, mount on bike. Replace brake lever. Rewrap the brooks bar tape, which was the part I was worried about. No troublems! Looks the same as before. Readjust brake caliper, finally getting to use the neat parks brake tool I scored on craigslist when I bought a grab-bag of old bike tools a while back. I'll take pics when the sun comes out...
What have you done lately?

I've done assortred minor changes. Replace a chain, new bottle cages, install a light. Might be doing quite a bit more soon as I may procure a tandem.

I definitely think "semi-routine checkup" for this one, in my mind "surgery" ususally involves a brazing torch!
