Powder Coating Question

I am thinking about having my Schwinn Super Le Tour 12.2 frame powder coated. To save some money, could I have them tape the bb threads, seat post area and head tube area after blasting and before coating. It's something like $40 to get a frame faced and chased.

Yes. The usually will have adhesive disks that can cover the openings of the bottom braket and head tube. The can also plug the breather holes, cable mounts, cantilever bosses etc.

Hmm, really? Well I will have to check into it. I am thinking of powder coating the frame and flipping it. I only paid $20 for the bike and I can get it coated for $80....I would paint it, but it's about 55 degrees here in Oregon.

my PCer uses silicone rubber plugs in all the openings, threaded or not. keeps the "media" out, whether that's sand or glass beads, and good to about 500ºF so "from freezer to oven to table."

You can't use regular tape. Most powder coaters have a selection plugs and tape.

Nice, where are you from? I live in a small town called Sublimity. It's just east of Salem on HWY 22 towards Detroit Lake and Bend.

Isn't the 12.2 completely chrome plated or is it just the fork?
