Its men on black bikes. In other words soldiers of the Wehrmacht riding all black bikes with full fenders, a generator light, and a German uniform and a Mauser 98k slung across your back. There are already guys who do this, including me. hey, Don't want to be a kraut?. The other armies of ww2 also used bikes. ww2 reenactors who can't afford to buy vintage vehicles can use vintage bikes!

Two years ago on e-bay, a seller, a movie studio had a deal; pay a hundred to enter the lot and take away as many vintage bikes as you could. Whether it be by truck or just to pick & choose. No Trk. Trails. were allowed. I comm. with them, they had HUNDREDS of bikes, never did it though, followed another deal. The movie place had all sorts of period correct bikes. The cuisers from the fifties seemed appealing.
They had army ones too I suppose. Now where's my thirty thirty carbine ? !

Didn't Hitler invent bike lanes because he hated bicycles?

Someone on the road forum called it the 1944 Tour de France.

I got the impression the movie studio bikes were a bunch of Flying Pigeon bikes. Or maybe I'm thinking of a different deal. Even there, I'd haul away a few for $100.

Yeah, in retreat.

Cycleheimer, your first pic looks like the Great War. Anyone know how common cycle troops were in either World War? I've run across reference to them in Barbara Tuchmann's The Guns of August, but that's about it.
