Anyone know what kind of bike this is?
Hi guys,
First of all great forum I really enjoy reading most days.
I have recently bought myself a bike to convert into a fixed gear for mostly city commuting, it's a peugeot premiere but I have no idea what year it's from and more importantly what BB it has.
I've tried identifying it from images on the web but can't really find anything solid.
Below is the link to the ebay win; contains pictures
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...T#ht_726wt_939
I've managed to get some information,
Y905 04893 that was on the bottom of the bike.
BS6102 was on a sticker on the bike
And there was a sticker saying made by Peugeot in Bedford, just because it's made in England does that mean it's got English components? As in BB and any other parts?
p.s. this one looks just like it https://www.peugeotshow.com/1988fr/1988fr_35.jpg
Thanks!

Over the last few years I've noticed that posts like yours, that don't include any pics, will more often than not fade away with no answers.
But, if it makes you happy, I'll just delete them.

decals indicate around 1988. the splash decals from the second bike started showing up in 89 or so.
i could be wrong, but by that time i think most peugeots were english threaded.

Great thanks 20grit, Is there anyway I can identify what type the BB is just by looking at it? I haven't got the tools to take it apart at the moment!

Can you tell whether the pedals French or English threaded? If they are marked R and L they are English, if D and G they are French. Similarly 9/16 x 20 is English, 14 x 1.25 is French. It's not a sure thing, but the odds are good that both BB and pedals are either English or French.
If that doesn't work, look closely at both BB cups; can you see any markings at all?
By the way, I have to say it... "what type of bicycle is this peugeot premiere?" reminds me of something my wife is always saying, namely "what is this mess?" which is, obviously, a question followed by an answer.

But it's not "alloy" as in aluminum, but rather Manga Alloy, by which the seller presumably means Tange Mangalloy 2001, a lower end steel tubing from the 80's.

Thanks guys,
I will try having a look at the BB tonight to see if there are any markings, Also I will look on the pedals too, Would I be able to tell by removing the pedals as I've got a pedal wrench.
Could anyone please point me into the direction of a new bottom bracket which would fit this as well as I really have no idea about bottom brackets? Are they all the same width and does it just depend on how long they are? If you haven't already guessed i'm confused!

Entry level, late 80's, more than likely an '89 with full British/BSA threading.
European decal schemes didnt always coinicide with North American decal schemes.
