does any one know about this model? i can't read the top tube.
it is for sale locally($50), and i am looking to replace my broken framed commuter.

i would also like to use my commuter for some touring and this bike looks like it might be geared appropriately.

any help with what model it is?

That looks like it's in pretty decent shape. Probably just needs a good clean/lube and maybe some cables. I don't know them well enough to have any idea what model that is though. I know there are a lot of Miyata lovers on here who will probably chime in soon enough. I say get it. Nice alloy cotterless cranks and lugged frame is almost always worth $50.

I would probably pick up just about any Miyata for $50 if it fits. Even if it doesn't that looks fairly flippable to me. Jump on it!

610? The brakes don't look right though.

I have a 610 and it is a very comfy bike. It would make a great commuter.

The caliper brakes don't mesh with the 'touring' moniker, but that shouldn't matter. Buy it now and worry about exactly what it is once it's yours. Easily worth triple that or more to much more.

Looks like a sport tourer. Not one of the designated "Touring" models (210, 610, 1000), but should do fine as a commuter - if it really fits that is.

OK, now that I got that ^^ out of the way (hopefully it's still available), I looked at the picture a little more closely. It looks like a 210 to me. That would explain the brakes. 1984 maybe?

EDIT AGAIN: Maybe they do... need better pictures.

A better pic would definitely help. The components are typical of a 1984 model 210 though the colour is wrong. The 210 would also rack tabs on the rear stays above the brakes. Because of the background, it's difficult to tell if they are present or not. It's an entry level tourer but well oirth $50 provided the size is right and there is nothing mechnaically wrong, besides the flat rear tire.

Looks like a 210 to me but could be an early 610- definitely a touring model from the length of the chainstays.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat for 100 bucks. At 50 it's a steal.

Looks kind of like a 310 or maybe a 110 but I can't find anything like it in the catalogs. At least not in that color combo.

If that was a 210, I think it would have been from the years it was made of Hi Ten tubing. Not the high water mark of the model.

Look closely, it may not been that big of a deal. It actually looks like the fork was bent forward? Meaning the bike landed
from a high place with the rider still installed, or was ridden over rough terrain while severely overloaded.,,,,BD

It's not a touring model (which had canti brakes) but probably a bargain at $50.
