The SEARCH function has been restored.

... or at least significantly improved.

My only real worry with the new forum software was that SEARCH was severely crippled. It seems to have been significantly restored during the outage tonight. Thanks Guys, keep up the good work.

Us IE users still can't post new threads - and editing an existing post is an experience as well.

Posting this thread wasn't exactly easy... it didn't seem to want to go through. Cleary, progress is being made.

Which search function? Certainly not Advanced Search.

I just searched for posts by a particular user who posts frequently and has at least a couple of times today, and came up with absolutely nothing for the last two weeks. Normally I'd see three pages. Beta testing can be a lot of fun, but this alpha testing really sucks.

I've yet to have a problem using IE on my home computer which is relatively new. The older computer at work is a different story. I have a feeling this new software isnt old computer friendly. Brighthouse (Tampas cable provider) just 'upgraded' to new cable software. Evidently, whoever designed this Beta software got the Brighthouse contract as well.

Any other paying members seeing ads in the middle of threads after this most recent upgrade?

If you mean the "support our sponsors" thing, yes. However, that image in the previous iteration, disappeared from the bottom left corner in this one

Probably a feature of the new version! I should mention I'm a 'grandfathered' paid member (one time lifetime membership fee previously available), so maybe I've become a second class red star.

Wow, the ad is even more intrusive in the Road Cycling forum. I'm sure they're bigger spenders than us C&V bottomfeeders.

Also noticed some color changes. But my profile page is still scaled incorrectly. My visitor messages, about me and friends all need me to scroll down before they appear. I understand this is not an issue with Firefox, but I'm using IE 8.

And no, I'm not switching to Firefox.

I hate the new smileys too.

When you do an an advanced search click on the 'search by type' thing in the top right corner. The search function is contradictory, when you click 'search by type' it say that it lists/searches posts yet and an advanced option is to search 'thread titles only'.

If I performed my real job as badly as the designers of this software I'd get fired.

Seeing this, I popped on over to the Roadie forum. Just wait on the morrow, the screaming will be epic.

What ads?

https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

Oh, and for those who mentioned they had problems on Firefox when attempting to save enlarged eBay pictures:

Maybe us Red Star sneetches should start a class-action suit. Wasn't the "deal" no ads for life? Isn't that a contract?

I have to say that some of the worst graphical idiocies have been somewhat improved: Poster's name is now on white background area, and aligned with beginning of the posting.

I'm pretty good at searching in other programs, and I've never found the search here even remotely useful; so I've just always used Google with the site:Bikeforums.net tag.

Will we ever be able to search individual forums like we could in the past?

Bikes: Mostly English - predominantly Raleighs

And I'm not - despite not running any ad-blocking software.

I tried that to search for all posts by a particular user and still came up with nothing.

However, if I click on the little "down arrow" (More info) in the left panel, I can find all posts by a user. For now that will have to be a workaround until the Search is fixed properly. All I have to do is find one post by a user.

I've found that it's been off and on - sometimes yes, sometimes no.
