Peugeot PX-10? or other P10 Model?

I picked up this frame recently on he cheap. I quickly assumed it was a PX-10 with the chrome on the fork and rear seat tubes, and simplex rear dropout, but I'm not so sure once I noticed a generator bracket or whatever it is on the seat tube, non-drive side? Do you know the year and model? I checked some Peugeot sites, but haven't been too successful with a good ID. Is there a site that provides details based on tne SN for Peugeots? This bike has a mixture of parts, dia-compte brake levers, Mavic Racer brakes, stronglight crank, Gipemme pedals and seat post, simplex FD, 105 RD, black dura ace tube shifters, mavic wheels, the stem and bars are the same brandwith a made in france sticker, but I didn't write down the name, SN on a small tin plate mounted on BB. Anyhow, it rides pretty decent without any work and likely wiil just add to the number bikes already on the garage wall but it would be interesting to know its age and model info?

The generator mount makes me think it's a PX60, but the 531 sticker looks like it's main tubes only. I'm stumped.

Here's a PX60:

I want one.

Its not a '20' or '30' or '40' or '50'.....must be a '60' series bike. PY60

You are correct about the generator mount, it automaticly excludes it from being a '10' series bike.. My literature lists the PX60 as full Reynolds tubing, including forks and stays, around '75 and 3 tubes only around '79. Whats throwing me off on the OP's bike are the Bocama lugs in conjunction with chrome rear stays.

No way is it a PY60. Not with a U08 style fork crown, Bocama lugs and 3 tubes Reynolds. No way.

It's probably a PF 40. Mine was a later model ( 80s vs 70s) but had the same butted main frame and hi tensile forks and stays. The give away is the brazed on generator mount. If you check the bottom bracket abd the lower head lug you will likely find holes drilled for the internal headlight wiring. The design and geometry are the same as a PF 60.

It is a 1978, if I recall right. Don't know the weight, and unfortunately, I don't have closeups. It was pretty nice for a Peugeot - and they are long-point, no less. Still some brass bubbling out from the shoreline.

It isn't the same as comparing Nottingham to SDBU Ilkeston.

More photos, hopefully of the right pieces? Cuda: Can you translate your last post for this tourist? It was pretty nice for a Peugeot - and they are long-point, no less. Still some brass bubbling out from the shoreline.

thank-you!

More details; Atax bars and stem; lastly it appears that silver paint may have been applied over the seat stay joining pieces and the more I rub the silver in that area, the more it appears that it was once gold, same color as the flat pieces at the top of the seat tubes?

Its a '79 or newer as thats when the decal and frame feature change occured. It would be 531SL and weigh about the same as every other 531SL bike out there. Peugeots special workshop wasnt always about pure craftsmanship versus being more about building a custom bikes to order. They didnt always have the cleanest joints and lugwork but they'd build anything the buyer's request. If you notice, the bike in curts post has very long, tapered seatstay caps which is fairly indicative of a 'PY' series bike.

A pic from my homepage:

the SN starts in a "7" does that refer to year of manufacturer, frame size or anything in particular?

No, nothing at all. There is correlation until 1979.
