Need Ordinary Chrome, Stainless Steel, Aluminum Cleaner Suggestions
I know how to remove rust and polish pretty good but what's best for day to day light cleaning to remove fingerprints and the like? I tried a Windex like glass cleaning product tonight that said it was good for chrome, stainless, etc. I used it sparingly and avoided getting any on the paint or plastic bits. It has ammonia and is the "non-streaking" formula. I used it to wipe down the fenders, handlebar, brake handles, etc. and I'm pleased with the result. I'm curious if there's a favorite method for this that I don't know about.
What does everyone else do and use?

Have a look at my newest website, MY "TEN SPEEDS". There is an article there on cleaning chrome, alloy, leather, plastic and the like on vintage road bicycles. Consider the suggestion for using aluminum foil to clean chrome - you will be amazed at the results.

Look also through this forum for threads on Oxyalic Acid, a great chrome cleaner but I have not tried it yet.
Good luck.

The trouble with using Windex is that will remove wax, which is what protects your chrome. I remove fingerprints from waxed chrome with more wax.

Buy the stuff in the round silver metal container called NeverDull. This is great STUFF! Works on all polished metals. Just wipe down with cotton/wool cloth first.
