Bikes: Mostly schwinn... few classics

Full suspension fun!

So I am begining to think my addiction is for the FS mountain bikes. I now have 3 and keep looking. '94 Pro Flex 754, '00 Schwinn Rocket 88 and a mix of 00- 01 Schwinn Rocket 88. Just something about the FS I love. Don't get me wrong the old steel/chromo rigid MTB's are great, and I am currently building one... I just can't get enough of the suspension models!

Sorry, but every time I hear full suspension, I think of this junk:

The interesting thing about the high-end FS bikes is that they depreciate faster than boats. Cutting-edge technology gets over-run fast, and you can pick up a 3-4 year old FS bike for a fraction of what it cost new.

Hell, you can pay half of retail now for a vintage 2009 model.

Here's something you may or may not like, it's my full suspension carbon 1998 K-2 ProFlex, I bought it new and did just a few minor mods to it, this pic was taken a few months ago.

SWEET!!! I would love to have the Girivin fork. I had 2 PF's prior to this (and I wish I still had them) that had that fork. To this day I still find it to be one of the best out there. Depending on what the future brings I may look for a used one! Every now and then I search CL for either a 9-series or an Animal

The new FS bikes are awesome!!! I ride a Litespeed Ocoee with a rigid carbon fork. It is more of a cyclocross setup. I was in Atlanta several months ago and went with a friend to the Olympic mountain bike course. I borrowed his Santa Cruz Blur FS bike. I couldn't believe how fast it descended and how much traction it had on climbing. I really want one!!!

Yes, they sure are.

Here's a couple of pics of my 2009 Marin Mt. Vision 5.8. I bought it in early November, and paid half of retail for it. It was a rental bike for about 6 months until I bought it from the outfitter. It had seen very, very little use.

FS mtb's go vintage at an accelerated rate.

That bike is SWEEEET. My friend bought his Blur the same way. It came from a rental store near Moab.

Oh man, Pro Flex. That was the bees knees back in the early 90's with that parallel link fork. I think elastomer dampers were the big thing too. Want to get C&V for a minute - remember the old GT RTS and Amp B2? Those were hot stuff.
