the right way to insert....

...rear DO alignment screws is...springs inside or out, and not slotted, shiny round nut is...inside or outside the DO...i've totally forgotten how this goes....

thanx

do you mean the limit screws? I believe the spring goes between the screw head and the derailleur. the spring is to keep the screw from vibrating out of adjustment

The spring goes between the slotted head & the inside of the drop-out. The knurled nut screws onto the threads sticking out the rear of the drop-out. In other words, from front to rear: screw, spring, DO, knurled nut. (If the wheel needs to be far back in the DO, you can move the spring to the rear, between the nut & the drop-out, but there is rarely a need to do this.)

OMG!! *blushing* I completely misunderstood that question. I guess it is time to quit work for the day and go home!

Inserts from the inside out, spring between the screw head and the dropout end. Cap goes on the outside.
