Is this a PY10?!?!?!?!?!
;)
Of course it is. And I so happen to be the very happy new owner of it. I traded some of my spare bits for it - many thanks to Thomas & Nick at Keirin Cycles for making the trade happen. It is a very early '79 (built '78), if I recall correctly. Jim ID'ed it in the Valuations thread a few months ago. The wheels in the photos are Super Champion Gentleman clinchers - a second set of unmarked, gold, tubular rims with Campagnolo Record low-flange hubs were also included in the deal. http://www.jaysmarine.com/peugeot_PY10_1.jpg http://www.jaysmarine.com/peugeot_PY10_2.jpg The only significant blemish is a horrid 2" scratch on the seattube, above the FD. As it happens to be in a decaled location, I believe I just might be able to touch up (and polish to smooth out the finish) this section, and apply a reproduction decal over the repair: http://www.jaysmarine.com/peugeot_PY10_3.jpg Arguably the most stunning bit of the whole bike - the rocket-ship seatstay caps: http://www.jaysmarine.com/peugeot_PY10_4.jpg http://www.jaysmarine.com/peugeot_PY10_5.jpg Simplex SLJ RD. http://www.jaysmarine.com/peugeot_PY10_6.jpg Early Simplex Retrofriction levers (prior to the cutouts). Gold anodized, as with everything else. http://www.jaysmarine.com/peugeot_PY10_7.jpg The original, gold Simplex FD had a cracked band - shop replaced it with a Suntour. Nick from the shop says he'll bring the original by soon: http://www.jaysmarine.com/peugeot_PY10_8.jpg http://www.jaysmarine.com/peugeot_PY10_9.jpg -Kurt |

very beautiful congrats! I love those brakes and the crankset
|
The shifters are really cool. Nice bike!
|
Incredible. You have made all the PX10 owners jealous.
PS - is that an OEM Stronglight drillium crank? |

Simply outstanding!
When I saw the thread title (I didn't immediately look at the posters name), I thought; not another Is this UO8 a PY10/PX10 thread. |
Cudak, don't you already have enough nice bikes?

uh-oh...Kurt has been bitten by the French bug :) If it rides as good as the PSV-10, I'll be quite happy (happier, for it'll shift right, as opposed to the STI Shimano 600 crap). Even with the clinchers, it is light as a feather - I wonder what they spec'ed for tube thickness. -Kurt |
Holy spit, Kurt. It looks a lot like my 1979 PXN-10LE (?) I bought new and was stolen within months.
Was the PY-10 even fancier? I notice it has extralegère (extra light) tubing, and mine didn't. How does it ride? I'd love to know! |

"What makes the CP unique is that you had to custom order it from the dealer and it was built for you in Peugeot’s frame shop in France. So, this bike sports specific geometry and custom paint instead of the stock design and colors found on the PX 10s, which you could have purchased off the showroom floor from any Peugeot dealer." I don't know how it'll ride, but it feels as light as a track bike as it is now, with clinchers on it. Haven't weighed it. -Kurt |
+1 on the stunning.
Those must have been some "bits" you traded. |
Nice! Love the lugwork, paint, fork crown, and especially that French Reynolds sticker.
|
From a distance it looks like my 1980 PXN-10e (or whatever the heck it's designation) Super Competition.... until you look at all of the unique parts. Yes, that is a very fine bicycle. I am sure you are very pleased... unless it doesn't fit you, and then you would simply feel compelled to trade it for some spare bits I might have...
Where is the head badge? You know without it the aerodynamics will be way off. A bike like that demands that you post many, many more detailed photos of every square inch so that we can cement our combined jealousy into a painful appreciation of you, seen against the dullness of our own bike collecting lives. |
Simply beautiful. Congrat, Kurt. The 531P should be the same thickness as the 753R. Probably weight about the same. Is the tubing metric or standard? Want to know how it ride.
|
Hey - that would make a great fixie!

Looks like it. It's a stunning, and beautiful bike.
|
Good work!
I need a new set of pants after looking at it... |
Gorgeous in every respect! Love that color/decal scheme, same as my UE-18 :thumb:.
|
The gold parts look very nice with the light blue paint.

Can you hear me whistling from NH? Wow! Missed this last night. That bike is a real treasure.

If you are not stuck on originality, put a Shimano DA or 600 freewheel on it. It will shift even nicer.

ooh la la... Congrats!! (the thread title fooled me too) :o
|
Nice bike Kurt. The gold simplex parts are beautiful. Could you explain what the retro-friction shifters are all about?
|
A most excellent catch! So many tasty photos...the splendid TerraFerma-Superbe, and now this Peugeot!! You're on a roll,
