need help identifying track frame.
 

hey there, i've had this thing for a number of years now and still haven't figured out what it is. perhaps the knowledgeable folk here can help shed some light. english threads, dual tapered ss's, campagnolo dropouts, serial no. reads 3593 on bb and steerer.

Not a huge help but I can say the lugs look like Hayden professional, not sure what the fork crown is though. That looks like a great frame, the bottom bracket holes are simple and interesting.

There is something very familiar about this bike.
The BB treatment is something I've seen before and
the stays and fork ends being scalloped is something I have on my
Jan de Reus and have seen on other Benelux frames (Kessels?).

Now if I can only remember where I saw all this.

I know what you're saying, Marty: that pattern on the BB shell was somebody's signature, but I just can't remember whose! Problem is, that's something any builder with a drill can duplicate, so it might not be the telling clue...

The holes on the track-ends look home-made to my eye, particularly the one closest to the chain-stay, it almost looks a little too-close-for-comfort to the track-end.

Could be an early Colnago, as seen in these examples:

although the manufacturer of the fork ends, BB shell, and lugs doesn't necessarily tell you who the builder was or the brand it was sold under. ...that may remain a mystery!

Thanks, at least that answers our question about where we'd seen that pattern before...but the chainstay bridge on every one of those Colnagos is the same but different from the OP's track frame. Based on that I'd say his is not a Colnago (and of course the English threads).

Apart from that, though, the fork crown, fork legs, the lug cutouts and some other details all look like things I've seen on one or two McBain bikes out of Tasmania, Australia. from searching around yesterday, i got the sense that the particular drilling pattern pictured was sort of a generic modification seen on a number of different manufacturer's bikes in the 1970's, and not the logo of a particular brand or builder.

Hey thanks to everyone who replied. Pretty sure it's not a Mcbain though. Since the two frames differ in pretty important ways: seat stay cluster and the way the dropouts are done up. Also, the lugs, bb shell and fork crow are all different (though they do look similar).
