Too out-of-date to make a joke
 

Maybe this belongs in foo, but the other day I thought it'd be funny to grab some carbon paper and wrap it around a fork and post a pic here of my new carbon fork. Then I realized I had no carbon paper at home, so the next day I went to the local office supply store during lunch. Turns out there's not a large demand for carbon paper these days. :innocent:

I can't even think of why you'd want to make paper out of carbon. It'd be all black and stuff...

I was going there anyway, but yeah. I felt very foolish.

Just tape a few pencils around your fork legs and it should do for the joke!...but make sure you sharpen them so we see enough...uhmmm....C.....

Won't work, everyone knows pencils are made from lead not carbon :lol:

Carbon paper just wouldn't have had the proper weave effect, as it was solid black.



But as an aside: Could I interest you in a mimeograph?

Just don't get the ones with the charcoal lighting fluid in them already. The fumes might make you dizzy when you ride the bike!:eek:

Jimmy I was gonna suggest taking the carbon paper out of a Checkbook but then I went and looked and even those don't have carbon paper anymore. :lol:

A few years ago, my company had a stockroom for all sorts of office supplies and other things. I asked the lady behind the counter for non-motorized, hand-cranked pencil sharpener. She actually had one left but thought it was so funny that I wanted it. She laughed hard and long about it. I laughed with her, but man, did she laugh for a long time!

That doesn't happen unless you post pix of yourself in "bicentennial" everything in 1976.

I had some awesome red white and blue trousers with matching sunglasses.

I can still almost conjure up that smell in my imagination - remember everyone sniffing the handouts, like that scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High?

30 year old and i know what carbon paper is we used to take it from my grandmother and use it to draw.

Huh! What is carbon paper? Just kidding. Did the person at the office supply store gave you a weird look like you were from another planet?

And rubber cement and white-out....it's a wonder any of us have any brain cells left. Or maybe that's the crux of the problem?

I'm still under 30 and I was using carbon paper not too long ago for something... next time I come across a few sheets I'm going to do exactly this.

To this day, I still equate that ammonia odor with dread because that's how our report cards were printed.

Everyone over the age of 45 knows what it is, and a surprising number of people younger than 25 know what it is, but almost no one between the ages of 25 and 45 has the slightest clue what it is.

Its funny my family would always call me a kul'i or old man in Pima. I take that name with pride.
i also named my 1988 raleigh Kul'i cause it belonged to a older gentleman that rode it until he broke his hip and couldn't ride no more.
I told his son i would ride it all the time just for him....

I knew as soon as I saw it and yes, I'm over 45. don't have any of them anymore, haven't since I was a teen

LOL - yeah! Can you still get the fluid? I might be interested in that machine!
