Here is a 1990 vintage Trek 5000 the first carbon frame produced by trek. It has campy delta brakeset and shimano durace and 105 components. This bike is setup exactly as it was when it rolled out of the store. Very classic and will get you noticed everywhere you ride. Hate to sell it but Im getting a new bike and dont really need 2 road bikes. Is in good tune....needs nothing...maybe some new bar tape but I may get some here soon. The pics and bike speak for themselves. Frame has a little wear but is in overall great shape.

I think the early 5000's are great looking bikes.

Bikes: Eddy Merckx San Remo 76, Eddy Merckx San Remo 76 - Black Silver and Red, Eddy Merckx Sallanches 64 (2); Eddy Merckx MXL;

Is that a little high for a 20 year old carbon fiber bike?

I know nothing of Trek 5000 bikes, but this popped up on Wikipedia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trek_Bicycle_Corporation

1989 was a pivotal year for Trek, marking the year that the company unveiled its first molded carbon fiber frame, the Trek 5000. The 5000 frameset (monocoque carbon frame plus bonded aluminum fork) had an advertised weight of 3.3 lb (1.5 kg). Designed by Trek but built by Brent Trimble, an outside manufacturer, the 5000 suffered enough quality problems that it was discontinued after just one year. But the lessons learned from the 5000 would prove to be instrumental in driving Trek to develop its own carbon manufacturing capabilities in the coming years.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

I know nothing of the bike. $1500 sounds high unless you want a Trek museum piece...The Delta brakes could go for a nice chunk of change, as would the wheels and group. I figure I could part it out and lose about $600 or so.

I think that's about right with those components.
