Most sought after Classic & Vintage bike???...
I was just wandering if there happened to be a most sought after classic bike, the "ultimate"?. Is there such a bike? (Within the same realms or time frame of the Gios Torino being introduced).

I think everyone would have a difference answer and it might even change day to day. there was a thread during the ice age back in Jan and Feb about "holy grail" bikes.
as for me, a Gios Torino from say '85ish? would have to be a Bianchi Centanario. if there is no time frame a Curly Hetchins is a dream/grail bike for me. although, not that I need it, I may have a line on a jackson trike now that is unique!

I've noticed more than a few people on here want a:
- chrome Paramount
- curly stay Hetchins
- De Rosa SLX
- 50's Bianchi
I'm not terribly interested in those. I really just wanted my Colnago Super, so I'm good now. Wouldn't turn my nose up at a Trek 660, though.

The arguably scientific answer to that question is "Confente" - considering what people are willing to pay for them - though I don't have any desire to own one myself.

Currently I am hooked on Colnago's. I would like a retro Master X with SHRAM or Campy. Vintage would be an Arabesque or Gilco tubed..... Very attracted to chrome and lugs!
OH maybe an EM! Maybe a fine Cinelli, De Rosa, Bianchi, .... I really don't know! Too many choices for too many reasons and not enough revenue to explore! I would not leave out English, French or other European bike. I would also include a Paramount but ....

There are so many terrific hand built, rare and exotic bikes (Eg., Confente, Rene Herse), that you will never get a consensus.
However - if you limit the question to just the higher volume manufacturers, (eg. Schwinn, Raleigh, Peugeot, Bianchi, Trek, Fuji) then you MIGHT see a little aggregation around a few specific models. Eg;
Schwinn - Paramount
Raleigh - Professional
Peugeot - PX10
...Etc
(Actually I would be interested to know which model for each of the marques listed above is the popular favorite... If we could get it down to a few such candidates, we could always have a runoff election later.)

I would agree that a Peugeot PY10 is superior to a PX10 - but higher in the hierarchy is no substitute for being an icon - burned into the popular conciousness - - And that's why I would list the PX10. . .
Likewise, I think the Raleigh Professional would impress more people - even though personally I would prefer to own an Int'l. - with Capella lugs of course!

I've always wanted a 1984 Trek 170 which was built with Reynolds 753 and Campy Super Record. It's the only Trek I've ever lusted after...

Good taste, but good luck. I know of only one other.
These are nice too, though I still like the regular ruby Pros. I passed on one a while back and regret it now. I didn't have components to build it up at the time and came across an almost complete Superbe group shortly after.

your a year too late! I sold a mostly original, sans wheels, '84 last year but a 57. it has since passed on but I hear the new owner is tickled pink or should I say burnt rose (I think that is the right color) with it
