Simplex

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for more info on Simplex components. I've tried a google search but seems like there's more than one component manufacturer named Simplex. Old catalogs or even a Simplex specific website would be fantastic. I'm really interested in the finding more info about the gold components that they produced. A bit off topic but is there any other manufacturers that made gold components?
Cheers
The Badger

Thanks for the start. I'll be looking into the catalogs and reading a bit more on the different components

Bikes: See my sig...

Lucien Juy started the Simplex most of us know in the 1920's and in 1928 produced his first derailleur and by the 30's was producing tens of thousands of derailleurs and remained a dominant supplier until the 60's.

He invented the top sprung pivot which is what every modern derailleur relies on to function well and was the first to use 3/32 chain... he made the worst decision of his life in 1962 when he decided to use Delrin as a material for building derailleurs.

Simplex never recovered and part of this stemmed from the ascent of Suntour and then Shimano as the world's top suppliers of derailleurs which devastated the European makers.

There is also a Dutch Simplex that was a producer of bicycles... many many bicycles.
