Rivendell Thread..... Where is it?

Yes, what happened to it . It's just gone, no trace. I can't even find google snapshots of it.

mkeller234 05-06-10 06:14 AM

I looked through my posts to find it but couldn't. It must have been removed by a moderator, it got sort of intense for a while but lightened up.... maybe it went back the other way?

mudboy 05-06-10 06:17 AM

MiB will be around shortly to erase all memory of that thread.

Can they prevent future Rivendell threads? Just kidding, they are always fun.

Garthr 05-06-10 06:27 AM

Yeah, I can see removing a post here or there, but not the whole thread. Is Grant Petersen moderating ? :deadhorse2:

bbattle 05-06-10 06:34 AM

It's not like Rivendell runs ads on the BF.

tugrul 05-06-10 07:38 AM

Hmm

Garthr 05-06-10 07:43 AM

I asked about the thread in Suggestions Forum . http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...issing-threads I guess it got "nasty" , and was removed.

Grand Bois 05-06-10 08:02 AM

I wish I had never started it. A couple of people pissed me off and I'm very good at holding a grudge. I'm not proud of it, that's just how I am and I'm too old to change.

I mean this with all sincerity Grand Bois ...... as long as we're alive, we're never told old for anything. One drop of willingness is all it takes, and there's and endless supply .

+1. Again, no offense meant.

Why would you put something like this? Garthr and I were only hoping that GrandBois would try.

I don't know what was said in the other thread before it got deleted, but it would be a shame to lose him or other helpful members over a silly internet exchange.

Then you can only be dead? :innocent:

If you lived in Rivendell, this would not be an issue, mortality and all that. :p

BTW, did they ever make a bike called "The Elf" which carried a true everlasting life warranty? :roflmao2:

The thing little said thing about fighting is ..... everyone loses.

Ragooch 05-06-10 08:53 AM

I feel it should have been locked before it got too out of hand. But I hate to see things like that disappear completely as I think it's good to be able to see some of the ridiculous comments made by some of the posters. Let's you get a feel for who some of these people are and helps put in to context some of their future comments. A few folks got a real pass by this being erased.

The comment wasn't aimed at you or anything that had been said thus far. Consider it more of a prediction. Generally when a thread gets pulled for being problematic, and another thread crops up about that thread...that thread is going to end up a continuation of the prior one.

The vast majority of people on this site are civil, knowledgable, helpful and intelligent (including the people fighting on that thread). Something about GP and helmet threads just brings out the worst in folks and pits people who otherwise are the sole of civility against one another.

If I remember my Lord of the Rings lore correctly, The elven race had lost eternal life by the third age, and by that time, the decline of the elves had begun...;)

Maddox 05-06-10 09:31 AM

You can change, you just need some of that magic dust...

Sure hope it wasn't me. We live too close to each other - I'd hate to have to worry about preadator drone kites.

You think you're good at holding as grudge? I'm Italian - "never forgive, never forget"... it's on the family crest. :)

I probably shouldn't mention that GP never wears a helmet.....

Can't say I'm all that versed in it. Read the books some 30 years ago. I just figured if we're talking about Rivendell Bicycles we can throw around a great deal of obscure references to the original inspiration for Grant Petersen.

Why would you need to wear a helmet when you are invincible? That's why it doesn't make a hill of beans difference when we poke fun at GP on C&V!

And he's a sidewalk salmon with an opinion on healthcare and Arizona's immigration enforcement.

Not so. They recognized their time in Middle Earth had been supplanted by that of man. The danger was of their culture becoming "corrupted", and they retreated.
