Up to now all parts are disassembled and the resurrection process has started.
Some shots from the headset after a lot of cleaning using only soft oil and light rubbing. Attachment 158367Attachment 158368Attachment 158369 |
After all the research into identifying the frame, it's great to see you were able to begin the restoration process - and especially locate an old decal set so you can add the finishing touches.
That's a very nicely made frame and will be something to be proud of once it's finished. Please keep us updated! I hope your 'economic situation' improves soon. |

I appreciate all the comments so I'm gonna do my best to keep this post alive:)
Ok a little bit of feedback. Same parts where replaced 1) seatpost, (the old 3TTT has many dents I'm gonna give a try to save it but looks a lost case) 2) A new Campagnolo seatpin 3) And a Campagnolo Chorus front derailleur 28.6 Attachment 158537 Attachment 158538 Attachment 158539 I gave my old San Marco concor light for a new dark brown leather cover. The brake calipers are almost ready I need 2 bolds and fresh pads (photos soon) I'm looking for Campy Veloce or Mirage Ergo shifters from 2000 up to 2006. Also a pair of Chorus hubs is at my surgery table  The whole process goes really slowly but I enjoy it a lot! |
First design then decide!

A glimpse of frame's final color.
It's an off-hand photoshop sketch but pretty accurate. Attachment 159412 |
After 7 months

Here is the final result after 7 months of modifications, changes, enormous time gaps
(family, job and friends have the ultimate priority). I hope you like it as much as I do. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215721 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215730 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215729 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215728 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215727 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215726 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215725 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215724 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215723 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215722 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215720 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215731 |
very pretty, nice work. It's always fun to see an update to an old thread like this.

And the components list
I know its not political correct to attach modern components to an early 80s bike but this is a daily use bike and comfort was a priority over an accurate vintage restoration. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=215857 |
Looks great, you definitely did it right. Must be a blast to ride.

Bravo! One of the nicest builds posted to here. And a wonderful set of composed photos.

Very, very nicely done. I really love the copperish color you decided upon.
The parts mix? Hey, at it's heart there's a vintage frame; that's all that really matters! Congratulations on saving this one! DD |

After 200 klm the whole set up is still on one piece. This little beauty has a 54 cc top tube and 54 cc seat tube. Is one size smaller from my ideal 55 size but surprisingly I fitted perfectly. Maybe I'll upgrade to a longer stem but sizing modifications will came on time. It is amazing stiff (ok the 36 hubs and low profile rims play their part also) Very accurate in handling especially at cornering. I didn't notice any particular flexing or stressing issues not even in sharp long descends, high speed, out of the saddle pedaling, at high cadence etc. I can't say that I push it to its limits and I don't intent to. In general it is fast, comfortable, absorves vibrations better than my aluminum frame, and above all I really enjoy riding it.
