Is this a Dawes?

I was on my way to pick up a $25 Raleigh Sport off CL and I stopped at this yard sale and picked up this crusty old beach bomber for $2 and I'm thinking "Maybe I have a bike problem". Then I got to this guy's house and he had HUNDREDS of bikes. The garage was packed, the yard was packed, there were parts in every corner.
Well we chatted a while and I gave him the $25 and took my Sport and on the way out I spotted this frame and got that warm fuzzy feeling, so I traded the Ross clunker for this pretty green thing. He says he's sure he has the fork and he'll give it to me as soon as he finds it. Maybe it's with the parts in the attic.
Any way, lets get to the pics. Nice lugs, wrap around seat stays, stamped dropouts, TDC cottered BB. Serial number A63550.Only 2 rivet holes for the headbadge, 2 3/16" apart.

Cool. Thanks. So would that make this a straight gauge 531 frame? I'm starting to get excited about it. I've got bars and wheels and maybe even a cute cottered chainring for it in my pile.

Here's some, though you'd sorta like to see some in the rear triangle. What was the bottom of the line Dawes back then? This isn't the fork the guy promised me, by the way. I'm hoping he comes through on that.

the dawes galaxies that i have seen are chromed underneath the paint for the entire fork and also the stays (or most of the stays). interesting.

I'm going on record as saying no.

The lugs are all wrong to me and I haven't seen wrap around seat stays on a Dawes.

The rear brake hanger on a Galaxy should be a brazed on piece instead of a hanger.

The RD cable guide should be on the bottom of the chain stay and not the top.

illwafer is right about the half chrome stays.

And somebody really worked hard getting the original decals off the top and down tubes. The head badge rivet holes are in the right place though... but that is so standard.

I'm looking at a Galaxy frame right now and I just don't see it. I also sold 2 others recently and here is a photo of one.

It's the green paint and gold accent that makes it look like a 70's Dawes Galaxy. I just don't think it is.

And here is my old Realmrider (which sadly I sold)

Note: lugs are not the same as OP's, nor is the rear brake hanger or the wrap around seat stay.

It was that orangy gold that made me think Dawes but I've been all over the web and not found another with the orange on the headtube or the wraparound seatstays.
Thanks for the input, guys.
Hey Ivan, where is the serial number on yours?
And do these dropouts look familiar to anyone?

I don't care what it is, if you got it for that $2 Ross, you got the better end of that deal.
