19?? Schwinn

I know nothing about old bikes ..... I was at a charity auction and bid on a bike that was listed as a 1930 Schwinn Balloon bike ..... got it for $50 CND .... it looked cool .... now I want to try to get some info on this bike .

It is light blue in color , womens style , it has a silver plaque on the front tube of the handle bars that says " SCHWINN " , in has a small decal on the tube that holds the seat that says " Schwinn Chicago " , and the serial number is located on the bottom flat plate at the end of the frame where the rear axel is attached .

Is anyone familiar with older Schwinn bikes ? I searched a few other old bike web sights but no luck getting info ?

Any info would be appriceated

BTW is this how you post pictures ? With the address only ?

You need to check into https://www.schwinnbike.com/heritage/forums.php . Probably the best spot to help with telling you what you have in this bike.

Also, from what I've seen women's vintage bikes don't sell as well as men's vintage bikes.

To post a picture be sure to click Go Advanced and then click Manage Attachments. You can then upload your photos for all to see as long as they are not too big.

I'd like to see these pics!

I was able to view the first picture by copying and pasting the URL. The others came up 404 though. Based on that picture though, and a 1935 Schwinn Pullman I used to have, it's definitely not as old as 1930 -- the chainwheel and painted florets on the downtubes are too new. More like early to mid '50s.

We have Schwinn date code charts on our site, but for dates before 1948, no one can tell you for sure. The pre-1948 records were destroyed in a fire.
