As I had my Concorde before digital photos - here comes a photo of a paper photo (will get it scanned evetually). In the 80-ies I studied in a town where there was a really good pro bike shop selling Concorde: s. This was my first custom frame. I wanted it without decals and I just wanted cable stops under the top tube. And some tweaked geometry. This became my every day bike for some years while stydying. A Wright saddle from an old Raleigh. Mavic 501 hubs and a mix of NR and SR. A wonderful frame it was. Sold it for reasons I no longer remember - or want to remember.

Colourscheme sure looks '93 to me. Does it have TSX tubing. '93 Brochure advertises Aquila with this tube set..

Time to resurrect this thread.
A few days ago I bought a Concorde frame. It has been neglected for a long time. I think it can be saved. If not, it's fun as a fixie/urban (sorry @non-fixie) bike. (...) |

Anyone familiar with this site with Concorde catalogs 1992, 1996, 1998, 2000?

Tubing sticker says SLX. I'd thought it looked similar to the 93 scheme, but wasn't TSX.
Maybe they used both tubesets for the frame, as they were more or less same quality... |

Love the bike and the (north)sea view.

Good to see this thread pop back up. I love Concordes. I have wanted to try a PDM Squadra or Aquila forever. If they ride anywhere near as good as they look, I would keep it forever.

A local seller is offering this Concorde Astore in PDM colors. Cromor tubing. Condition is nice. A few spots in the paint, chrome is good. See pictures.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=524280http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=524281 What's a reasonable price? |
I paid under $300AUD for my Prelude frame and fork with PRX tubing.
Not sure where Cromor fits in the tubing equation but from what I am told SLX and PRX are at the top of the tree. PRX stands for Paris Roubaix I have been reliably informed.

His asking price is half of that, about $130AUD. Fair?
|
Green light I reckon.
|
I've got a deal. I'm so anxious in building this bike, I went online to order some hardware starting with a headset. Until now I bought frames with headsets on/in it. This one, as with the Colombo I bought a few weeks back, has no headset. What is the thread type of these italian bicycles? Can I order every 1 inch threaded headset available? Stack height might be something to keep eye on? Sealed bearings another one? What else?
|
You'll need to measure the steerer tube and headset and subtract the difference to find the stack height. Pretty much any 1 inch threaded headset that matches that stack height will work.

Got it! My Concorde Astore PDM Team. Yesterday I picked up the frame. Here it is on a clowdy, moisty morning.

Nice frame, I like the PDM colours. What are you building it up with?
I have a spare Campy Daytona double crank in silver. I just ordered a 44t/135 BCD black VeloSolo CNC Road Chainring and some rear spacers. It will make a nice combination. I have a set of silver Campy Chorus skeleton brakes. Finnish it of with a Cinelli 1A stem with a raiser bar and some (noname) brake levers in silver. Wheels I don't know. I have some Shimano's RX100/FH-A551 with Mavic MA2s rims but I don't like them at all. |
Daytona double cranks need 111 mm bottom bracket, correct?
So this one will do? Not sure it is ISO or JIS... Any other non Campy crank that will match with Daytona double cranks? |

If ít's going to be a classy SS, it's not.
Another option is to make use of a 10 speed Veloce QS shifting brake levers and 10 speed derailleurs. But to get me a set of Shamal wheels and silver, compact Campy crankset, is way over budget. |

Older sets of Campagnolo Record show up cheap too. My Prelude at thetop of the page cost me under $2500 Australian built on 10 speed Record including silver 8,9,10 speed Record hubs. |
I've got my eyes on this hub set:

Picture below is from other frame but mine is a like. I will post pic as soon as I have enough light (it's kind of dark weather last days). ... http://i.imgur.com/tO4cdbO.jpg A pity. I can't bare to tosh it so I decided to give it a try at a local powder coater. Never did business with them. Never had a frame powder coated before. The color? RAL 6027... looks familiar? http://i.imgur.com/cSUX1Uk.jpg I asked the guy to leave the chrome intact. I will keep you posted. |
I realized I never posted my Concorde in RAL 6027.
http://i.imgur.com/lpzV4Le.jpg?1 As you can see she's not finnished yet. I am in the process of searching the right flat bar and some cheap SL-R440 8s shifter and brake levers. Any alternative flat bar shifter than the Shimano SL-R440? Specs so far: - New TangeSeiki Falcon FL250C headset - Shimano HB-1055 (105) hubs laced on Campagnolo Omega 19 rims. - Shimano BB-UN55 107mm ITA bottom bracket - Noname 165mm crankset (single chainring) - SR stem - Campagnolo alloy seatpost - Selle Italia Flite saddle |
