Pashly delibike with Philliips handlebars?
Hi,
I am doing some research on a old butchers (delibike) which my dad bought 20 odd years ago for his shop? It has a Phillips badge on the handle bars, a pashley badge on the frame and a german stamp on the wheels! I am looking for some information in to the history of this and what he should do with it - it is collectable - worth restoring- or selling? I am trying to figure out how old it would be and what it would be worth?
Any ideas or information would be gratefully received!
Thanks!

Bikes: 1940s Fothergill, 1959 Allegro Special, 1963? Claud Butler Olympic Sprint, Lambert 'Clubman', 1974 Fuji "the Ace", 1976 Holdsworth 650b conversion rando bike, 1983 Trek 720 tourer, 1984 Counterpoint Opus II, 1993 Basso Gap, 2010 Downtube 8h, and...
Oh, that is lovely!
Pashley is a bike manufacturer; Phillips was primarily a manufacturer of bicycle components, though they also made bikes. Until they were bought out and consolidated with Raleigh about 50 years ago, a lot of different bicycle manufacturers --all but Raleigh, I'd guess-- used Phillips components. They could also have used other components, such as the German parts you noticed on the wheels. So this is a Pashley, which is a very good thing.
Collectible? To a collector, yes indeed; it's a matter of finding one. Shouldn't be hard, though. If you were in my neighborhood I'd try to buy it myself, but I'm not going to ship it across the pond.
Worth restoring? I don't see anything wrong with it; clean it up a little, polish the chrome, and it's perfect.
Worth selling? Well, if you don't want it, and aren't using it, yes; easier to sell it than to find another one, for sure.

I'm guessing that handlebar is 50 years old or more; but of course I cant be sure it's original to that bike. And I suppose it's possible Raleigh kept making Phillips branded parts after 1961; I don't know.
If your crank was made by Williams, which is not unlikely, you may find this page helps you put a date on it.
Pashley is still in business; they may be able to tell you something. I'd contact them.
I don't know anything about the bike collecting scene in the UK, but no doubt someone will chime in....

I have had a look at the crank and can't see any stamps on it - although I have seen on the pedal a stamp that looks like a 'T' shape and another stamp with a strange shape that I can't make out? I will contact pashley in the mean time to see what they say!
Thanks
