Gardin and some peugeot
Ok I have two questions. The first dose any one know about the gardin shop, I have one and want to know more about the no longer existing shop? I do Know that Joe Gardin went on to start a company called rhino bikes I think and that they are from canada. The next question I just got a vintage peugeot, it looks like the px-10 but dose not have the strong-light cranks and seems to be heavier than a px-10. The only funny thing is it has the quick release hubs and all in all its a cool bike. So dose any one know about this model and I am all so planing on a major cleaning.

You have what appears to be a circa 73 UO8 in pretty nice condition. They make nice fixed gear urban beaters; in fact I just cruised around Richmond tonight on a yellow one from the same period. Look for a sticker that says "tube special allegre peugeot" on the seat tube; that's a giveaway... a PX would say "inoxyadable" in the same place. Plus a PX would have half-chromed rear stays.
The UO is nothing valuable, but they are very good rides. I'd get rid of the cottered cranks and steel rims, personally, and fixie the darn thing... it's even my size. Too bad I already have one, it'd give me something to mess around with.

Thanks allot man. I don't think I am going to fix it, I all ready have a fixed/ss beater (it's the red thing in the back) but I am going to give it a good old fashion clean up and it rides pretty well to spite it's over all funk. Maybe new brake levers and rims are in the future. I really do like this bike and I am already getting comments on it.

Hello - Interested in your Gardin. I have one which I bought in England. I cannot give you any further details just now as I am away from home except that is very upright, whiteish silver finish and the name on the downtube is in large capitals (GARDIN). Will be back in France around the beginning of next month and will tell you more if you wish. Regards. David Chapman Hicks

U08 circa early '70's. I use one as my daily rider. Just did a century on it. Nice smooth riding bike, even if a little pudgy. Yours is a nice example.
