They're now in the sticky thread...I guess they thought it was getting too cluttered? I miss having them up top, I think that posting in them will decline significantly without them being prominent.

like that 'sticky' post on the top is really useful and should be there...

I'm glad they're gone. Having to scroll down for a _whole page_ to get to new posts is a pain. It's a dog-eat-dog world...if people post, it moves to the top.

If you read the thread that often, try control-b and add a bookmark.

Bikes: I hate bikes!

Hey I sent you a couple of PM's about the bag for sale. Did you get them?

Ha, I didn't even notice! Does that mean I am cured? If so I will work on making the cure readily available.

A couple of recent additions to the stickies appear to have broken the camel's back.

Four of those threads (Are you looking for, Catch of the day, C&V Rides, Where did you ride today) capture the basic cycle most of us regulars are on (seeking, acquisition, rehabilitation and riding), and those threads concentrate a lot of the routine communication we engage in. I know I hit those first before sorting through the other subjects of the day.

Those links in that sticky post are another click & load now, and they don't even link to the last page of those threads, which has got to be the most frequent destination. I know appending "&goto=newpost" would give me a bookmark to the end, but it tries to scroll to what it thinks the last post is, which is always a buzz kill as loading images jump that point around until the page is fully loaded.

Oh well, another lump of coal to deal with.

Loading images took forever with my old computer. Change your settings to only allow 25 posts (or less) per page and things will run a lot better for you.

They were un-stickied at least temporarily so that everyone would see this thread

There have been a number of threads recently where sellers were attacked before the whole story was told. I think everyone could save themselves and BF a lot of embarrassment if they reserve judgement and wait for things to play out before they go too crazy on here.

Bring back the stickies. Most C&V'ers liked them.

I agree with good riddance. I'm subscribed to the threads I want to read, which effectively makes them sticky. I want the top of the page to have stuff I haven't read yet.

If the threads are really that popular they will stay in the first two pages.

I almost never look at stickies. This is evidenced by the fact that I didn't notice there is a sticky that has links to all the old stickys.

I was actually excited to see them moved. There were WAY too many and it was a half page scroll to get to the new information.

I'd like to see the poll numbers.

I say good riddance. I agree with mkeller, If the threads are that popular they will stay on the first page or two....if not then they shouldn't be stickies.

At the very least, maybe the 'Show your bike' thread can remain a sticky, like every other bike specific forum? (Whoa, just noticed the Folding Bike forum is pretty cluttered with stickies! Who's been sleeping at the switchboard?)

It looks like there is pretty even division on this...but I'll cast my vote with Maddox. I really love the ebay/craigslist deals of the day stickie, and for me that it is a lot of what this site is about...mutually supporting one another's addiction. I haven't really opened it since it was unglued.

Bikes: Was Fuji and got my grails (Pro, Pro SR, Design Series, & Ti). Now I hunt 50's/60's road bikes.

At first, I thought that I might miss the Ebay sticky, but it gets posted to frequently enough that I am not worried about finding it. I vote to keep things the way they are now. We were getting too many stickies and some of them were a bit ridiculous.

I think we should make this thread a sticky.

I think there is a middle ground between having all of the old stickies (and yeah...some were just plain silly) and almost no stickies. I think putting the top two or three back would be minimal clutter and useful.

I also vote for reincorporating the appraisal forum with the main forum...I've barely been there since it moved, and I learned a TON from reading that sucker.

Seems like the Mercian uproar wasn't even a sticky.

Makes me feel young again.
Like when I had the bad teacher in third grade.
My 3rd grade teacher was memorable in a bad way too. Maybe that is a thing.

I had a good third grade teacher, but I had the same thoughts as you...

On the contrary I feel like my wishes have come true. Its like a new world not having to scroll through half a page of stickies I don't care about to get to the new posts.
