How Do I Identify a Colnago model?

im trying to find out from a bad craigslist pic.

whats the best way?


the seller has no idea what it is.

Chrmoing, tubing shape and mateiral decasl

Chroming: Fork? Drop outs? Fork ends? Lugs? Chain stays? Seat stays?
Tubing: Round? Oval? External fluting?
Material: Columbus SL, SP, SLX eyc...

Just for starters....

the fork doesnt look chromed.

horizontal or semi horizontal dropouts.

steel frame.

Not a Colnago. Fork rake, long wheelbase, decals all over the bike in the wrong locations = no Colnago

ok. i was skeptical but very hopeful. guess he wont even get a call saying im not coming...and he lives 54 miles away.

I agree. Try to get the seller to send you some hi-res pics of the fork crown, seat stay caps, head tub lug work, brake bridge and under the BB. You never know, it could be wolf in sheeps clothing....or in this case a sheep in wolfs clothing.
