Schwinn serial numbers
I Googled Schwinn serial number database and have not been able to turn up anything past 1982.
I have a bike that is newer than this and was wondering how I could find out what year it is?
It is a le tour II and the serial number starts F726120 and it is located on the rear left of the frame by where the rear tire hooks in...
I was hoping someone might point me in the right direction.
The schwinn metal badge that says Schwinn Approved Japan has the number 1887 on it.
The rear dérailleur is "Schwinn approved gt 420 Le Tour"

If it's a Le Tour II, it's a 1977 Le Tour II.
The "1887" stamped into the head badge means the bike was assembled on the 188th day of 1977. The "F7" in the serial number means the frame was manufactured in June, 1977.
From Schwinn Bulletin 23, "Schwinn Bicycle Identification Numbers":
Bicycles from Japan have a production month letter in either the first or second position and a production year number in the other (first or second) position. Examples J677123 = September, 1976, 6J77123 = September, 1976.

Sorry, but I don't know much about Raleighs or Motobecanes.
Kurt (cudak888) has some Raleigh catalogs on his website, The Headbadge, and I'm sure there are other on-line resources as well.
