Build it on a lightweight frame. You'll love it. Trust me.

Hello,
This is my first post, but I was in the same boat as the OP. I just had a 25 inch '71 or '72 5 speed derailleur Sprite 27 converted to an AW-hub 3 speed. Though it is a heavier gauge frame, the Sprite already had fenders and chainguard. Also, the frame angles for this model (as opposed to the 1977 model true 3-speed Sprite) appear to duplicate that of the Sports. Patrickhttp://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=170079 |
My first new bike was the 25.5" Record, same paint combo as rhm's. Sits on a trainer in the basement.
About a year ago there was a Grand Prix on Boston CL, ad said it was a 23" frame but even with the tiny CL photo could see it was bigger than that. I replied & asked the seller to check again & got the reply that it was 25" frame. I've got a 24" DL-1 single speed & plan to keep it that way but want a 3-speed that fits. Turns out the GP was a 27.5! I also want to keep the Raleigh IGH mojo. Haven't got to it yet... Our house had the garage converted to a family room. My son lived there for a while, my future son-in-law lives there now. He's planning on moving out the 1st of the year. Wife said she wants the bikes out of the spare room & the kitchen. Says the room is all mine. Oh, boy, oh, boy, oh, boy! (There's also a Royal Enfield in NH I'd like to stick in there.) |
