Cinelli 1A stem binder bolt!@#$@#%@#$%

I just bought a bike that I'm very quickly falling in love with. The problem, which I'm sure many of you have run into, is that the binder bolt on the stem is pretty much stripped to hell. I've been searching high and low, reading through random online postings, and I've only been able to find one replacement on ebay for 30 bucks. I may as well just buy a new stem if I'm going to spend that much.

Any other sources for this bolt? Or am I just out of luck?

Thanks!

Out of lick my friend. They're around but if most people are like me they don't sell them. I need the one I have as a spare for my own bikes!!

Hi. What thing do you use to pad on the binder bolt to use a hammer to tap?
I have tried using rubber hammer, direally using it to tap on the binder bolt. Totally disaster. Anodised surface of the stem got blessmished.

Insert the proper sized allen head wrench into the binder bolt socket head then tap on it straight down at the bend with a steel headed hammer while holding the free end of the wrench with just enough force/shock to knock down the quill wedge inside the stem to release it. The allen head wrench can take the impact from the hammer as it is made of hardened steel. The binder bolt is also hardened and should not suffer any damage, unless it was replaced with a lighter, softer metal bolt for weight reduction, then you have to be more careful with how much force you use to tap it down with a hammer as you can deform and irreversibly damage the head of the bolt.
If it happens to be the clamp bolt that is stuck on the stem. Similar methods with using an Allen head wrench should work by just loosening the Allen headed nut part ways, inserting an Allen head wrench on it and tapping on the wrench to remove the stuck clamp bolt from the stem...

Cinelli 1A stems were made for a long time...
so long the handlebar clamping bolt is either a typical bolt and nut OR later an allen head fastener...
I'm not sure what jayefbe needs.

for the nutted version, I got mine from boulderbicycle

I reckon jayefbe either got it sorted or gave up completely in the eight years that have passed.

I had a seized 1A clamp bolt, lucky for me a mate had a 1A stem stuck in a frame that had to be cut out, so he gave me the bolt.
