Carlton Corsair.
Does anyone have any info on this bike? I bought it for almost 90 today, and i'm going to clean it and put new cables on it and sell it. It's a nice bike.
But it has aluminum wheels, and components i think. It has wiennmann brakes, and suntour derailleurs.
Anyone know anything?
And also where can i find info on dating it?
thanks a ton.
p.s. i found nothing on this bike on google.

I have one also, mine is an early 70's model. It's a mid range frame from carbon steel with awesome lug work. There is a Carlton thread a few pages back with tons of info. Older ones will have a narrower slot for the bolt/nut axles and perhaps a lamp mount on the fork. There are two sites with some Carlton info. One has photos of lugs and years that they were used. Serial number info is sparse.
Pics would be a big help.

This is a 32 year old Carlton Corsair I picked up a few weeks ago. All original equipment with not a spec of rust on even a bolt head. Still on original Raleigh tyres (not perished at all), original bar tape, brake blocks (no wear to them - not even a tiny mark on the rim sides). Spent most of its life dry stored at the British National Cycle Museum. If it's done more than 100 miles since new, I'd be surprised.
A few photos
The condition is as near perfect as you'll ever find. So nice, I've loaned it to my local long-established Raleigh dealer who has put together a small bicycle museum underneath the shop. It sits alongside the 21 year old Raleigh Vitesse I loaned to the museum recently.
