I thought about yellow tape on the bars, which you often see with red and orange bikes. But I was afraid of getting too much of a bumblebee look. And I wanted leather tape and couldn't find any in yellow. May still consider trying it though and seeing how it looks.
An Oro drilled chain is a handsome choice, but finished? No waterbottle? No pump? Black bikes are almost always handsome. Steel in a tuxedo. Chanel knew the power of black too. |
Stunning!!!
Absolutely beautiful! So, you gonna hang it on the wall or ride it like you stole it? |

If yellow on the bars, then traditional grey/silver cable housing. The yellow is critical, I have had to search hard for a true hue yellow, not marigold yellow.

1984,60cm. Built in California by Rob Roberson according to Joe Starck's build sheets, fork built by Joe Starck.

Thanks for the info. The fork blades look a little fatter, more Columbus-like, than the fork on my '80 Roberson. The paint is amazing for original. Congratulations.

This is a stunner, great job on the finishing touches.

Well I honestly can't say for sure that it is 531. It was my understanding that all the 84s were Reynolds 531 but I don't know that for sure and there are no tubing decals. I will ask Joe. He is on the CR list all the time.

Very nice! I love it. ;)
|
Finally looked in the seat tube. Reynolds 531. I suppose the fork could be Columbus but there is no dove stamped on it.

Wow. I mean really, wow. Do you have a Flickr or some other photo account where you posted a full series of this build? Magnificent job, really. Let me know when you want to sell it (or the others) as I am also a 60.
That stem is killer. A shot of that with fall leaves reflected in it would be awesome. |
I think I'm afraid of this bike. I mean that in the best possible way.

I am kind of a Masiphile and although I also have a 72 (Italian) Masi GC, this one still grabs me the most. When I saw this frame I knew I had to have it. I have never seen another black Masi GC (although I know others must exist). |
amazing. Very nice bike.
|
oh ouch.. stolen directly from my dreams as a 14 year old.. in 1985...
man, stuff really doesn't have NEARLY the minimalist power of bikes from that era anymore! |

I finally finished a complete photo set on this bike that I really like. Here are some examples. See the rest at my website: http://www.cicloclassico.com/84Masi.php.

That's a jaw dropper.
And that's a really shallow seattube... very unlike other 80's Italian style frames. Is there a reason you don't have quill pedals and Binda Extras? |
Oh.....you're killing me here. 'nuf said. BD, I have a yellow Silca that might fit if you're interested. PM me. Not pristine and, black would be nicer in my opinion but...I'd gladly donate it to that stunner if you can use it.

Oh and the seat is generally up higher than I usually have it because I pulled the seat to try and figure out if this bike was Columbus SLX or Reynolds 531 since both were used in the early 80s. Turned out to be Reynolds and the weather turned really sour before I got to ride it again and get the seat adjusted. |
Un Befrikkin believable! This is all wrong, so wrong, to post these photos and incite lust, envy, covetedness, all the deadly sins. Have mercy- at least say you will sell.

Dont change a thing! This bike is perfection!
