Rivendale Shifters/Dia Compe/Velo Orange ratchet shifters

Do they work as well as the vintage models? I'll likely be upgrading to a 9 speed bike. I plan on using old Deore derailleurs. The new build is going to utilize classic components on a modern frame...no carbon fork.

DT shifters? If so I think the Rivendell Silver Shifters are fantastic and probably my favorite DT shifters.

They're like Suntour power ratchet shifters without the clunky looks.

The Silvers shift and look beautiful; however, two of my friends complained about the plastic part of the Silver shifters breaking. The Suntour Power Ratchets seem more solid construction-wise.

Some of the later SunTour downtube shifters had a very nice design. I mean the upscale versions, to mount on DT bosses, not the strap-on Mighty Shift ones.

Bike Stash.com has original NOS Suntour Sprint shifters for less than Riv and VO. No association, just an FYI.

Do you mean the plastic washers? Velo Orange sells replacements for $2.

I have the DiaCompe Silvers on my '88 Bridgestone T700. Fine piece of kit. They may migrate to the bar ends via the Rivendell parts. Overtightening the screws is what cracks the plastic part.

WOW, their prices were less than ebay's used crap. Thanks for the heads up.

I've purchased a set of the Dia Compe Silver bar ends for use on my '87 Voyageur. I'll be building it up with the original Deore derailleurs. I have Suntour Barcons on my rando bike. The consensus (from my reading) seems to be that they look better and perform marginally better than the Suntours. I love my Suntours, so I wanted to try them. Sorry, but I have yet to build this bike up so I can't say for sure.
