Thanks, Reynolds--really low speed, like walking it. If I were to crank it that far over at any riding speed, I'd go down big-time. Anyway, if I let it flop over, the rubber o-ring on the caliper adjuster hits the down tube. Soft landing and no chips.

Sorry for the belated reply. Yes, please do share your "as is" Girardengo (perhaps in a separate thread so as not to detract from this special Colnago thread).
And yes, I am in Berkeley. (I just updated my profile location.)

Photographed the Girardengo and will post photos tomorrow in a new thread...I call it a '59, but serial number begins with a "52", so I'm looking for information as well as restoration advice. It is complete, rideable, and nearly 100% original.

Thanks, VMail! It was an omen that the very day I began final assembly, the correct A L E bottle holder turned up on Flea Bay, after I'd searched for it for months!
Ian received his decals last week, and emailed me that he was quite pleased with the quality. Shipping to Oz is $$$$!

^Seriously? If you are taking on a similar project, it seems that shipping on decals would be the least of your cost concerns.

Absolutely. Decals on the frame that I own are in a good shape and are original. So far I want to preserve that original look (without repainting) - shipping of the decals looks overpriced, because I'm even not sure that I'll use them (despite that fact that they are new and well done). My project's expense will be much lower, just because I will restore not "till the last original nut", but to the time-adequate condition. My frame, as I learned from the Internet, isn't the-one-of-four Olympic Colnagos, and I can feel free, in certain range of course.

All the photos I did so far, are not very illustrative. It's needed to do some "session" for the frame, anyway it's a good idea before the restoration.
