I also like Ebay auctions that say "cheap".

Even better when they say "Wow, great bike for cheap"

Depends upon your perspective: Wow turned upside-down is Mom. :)

What about HUGE garage sales? How many of you can now judge the quality of a sale by the overall color from the street??

WOW! I love it. What better way to instantly say that it's Cr@p?!

I know I'm dating myself, but ever since the days that Compuserve came up with their "Wow!" service, (Yes, It died a very quick death) "Wow" has been short for "Wow, That's bad!"

I'll be putting together my box of WOW!!!!!!!! tonight

Kobe 12-08-10 08:00 AM

Lets see here.... do I really hate the use of Wow more than I hate the use of key words so that an item shows up in every search I do. Not bike related, but I regularly check for harp guitars on ebay. A while back some seller was using key words that caused harmonicas to come up in my harp guitar search. This is usually remedied by narrowing the search options down to Stringed instruments/Guitar/Acoustic or something to that effect. The harmonicas still showed up. This is only made more irritating by the fact that they're $5 chinese throw away harmonicas. Usually I get about 70 results for harp guitars and these things were causing that number to go up to 350 or so.

I see the same thing happen with bikes, but the harmonicas has been the worst example I've seen.

You know that you can also exclude keywords on there, right? "-harmonicas" "-fixed" "-wow"

Wow, I was a Compuserve member and missed that one entirely.

I just finished watching this auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/1960s-60s-Bianch...item45f728ba5e

a bottom-of-the-barrel Bianchi. Look how the seller was hawking and hawking as "ultra-rare handbuilt Italian racing bike with Campagnolo components" lying through his teeth. I love how the ending price told the tale.

treebound 12-08-10 10:12 AM

I would not say WOW if I found my MOM turned upside down.

Aaaaaaaaaaanyway,...

There is a local guy who advertised his Firenze as an Italian racing bike and did not use the Firenze name anywhere in his post, which was reposted several times for several months.

I get annoyed by spammers and scammers when I post something.

I get annoyed by non-responsive sellers when I inquire about something.

I get annoyed by texting lingo from both sellers and buyers, az f tats ho dey nly no h 2 tpe. ALL CAPS ARE ANNOYING TOO!

I think I need to go repost my Schwinn woman's bike since the $10 buyer who was supposed to come get it several days ago hasn't shown up. How annoying would this be:
L@@K L@DIE$ Racer, VINTAGE Schwinn, a classic. You'll be cruizin and the boyz will be droolin as you tool by on this fine ryde. This is not a Colnago Centurion DeRosa Look Trek Campy Campagnolo Cinelli Cervelo fixie fixed gear. Make offer.

Nah, I'd better not, that would be annoying.

Rocket-Sauce 12-08-10 11:26 AM

I'll add "rare", "antique", "lugged", or my favorite "mechanic owned".

Or when a half-arsed fixed gear conversion is listed as a track bike.
