Centurion Elite RS...All Done! almost.

My wife says it looks the same to her but we know better!
It rides very smooth and responsive. I have to make sure everything on the bars is right before I wrap them (Brown) but for the most part it's all done. New rubber....Cables....pedals....all cleaned up. Got my new little flash light on and I think I'll ride her to work tomorrow.

Wow looks amazing. I really like the colors. I'm trying very hard to find some gold/bronze 700c arayas for my black peugeot. THey look great on your centurion was that saddle originally honey color or brown?

I had an '84 Centurion Elite RS. A great riding bike. Rode a lot like a Shogun 400 most likely b/c of the same tubeset.

Smooth. Another bike that is not all that well known.
If I had to sum up that model in one word: balance.

Excellent job on an excellent bike.

Those Gold Araya rims are great. The bike looks very nice. What gear is that, shimano 600 and a Sugino crank?

Once it was Honey. Seems the older it gets the darker brown it gets!

Correct!! The original pedals are also part of the Shimono 600 also but I decided to leave them off for the time being.

Why do you consider it "balance"d RT? Is it because of the slightly longer chainstay that would give it a slightly more flexible ride over a short one?

I consider it a nice balance between sport-capable riding and century comfort, while still easily able to be mounted with what it takes for light touring.

I find it to be a fairly precise frame, balanced between being not as twitchy as some more sporting frames, but not feeling "long" like some other all-around road bikes, which don't like to get out of a straight line. I guess it's a balance between handling/stability.

I find it to be a nice balance, when new, between the expense of well-equipped racing bikes and the poorly-equipped entry-level bikes of the era. Time really hasn't changed that.

I hope that explains it. I tend to think of "compromise" as about the same term, but like "balance" better.
