Best wishes Tom. A friend of mine had gall bladder surgery some months ago and he recovered very quickly.

iTod 12-20-10 04:24 PM

Best wishes, and best luck to you, your wife, and your cat.

Oldpeddaller 12-20-10 04:42 PM

Tom, sorry to hear of your troubles. Wishing Carol a speedy recovery and hope the prognosis for your feline friend is better than it seems. Prayers and positive vibes sent your way. Hope everything turns out well for you all. Will be thinking of you, Stuart.

Best wishes Tom. You give a lot to the Forum (and your community, judging from your posts). I hope that karma comes through and you get a nice payback in the way of some good news on both fronts.

Here is wishing your wife a very speedy recovery, and a very happy healthy new year.

I know it's a tough time of year for something like this but all will be fine I'm sure. I'll say a prayer for your wife, God Bless.

The surgery is not half as bad as a gall bladder attack. If they do an orthroscopic procedure she shouldn't be in the hospital that long. 3 small incissions (one through the belly button) and recovery is much quicker than if they have to cut her open.

Tom, best wishes for your wife's speedy recovery - and I hope this doesn't prevent you from enjoying your BOC thread!!

Smile...

My wife Carol goes into the hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. It's a gall bladder operation, and chances are, things will go just fine.

My brother-in-law just had one last week and all is fine. Turns out he had and issue for months and it was misdiagnosed. The thing should have come out back in October!!

It'll all be fine...best of luck.

I'm sending my prayers along as well for you and your family.

peace be with you.

Best wishes.

A few things to stay safe in the hosptal.

- Ask the surgeon for CHG pre-operative wipes. These are an anti-microbial body cleaner. Use them the night before and morning of surgery. They keep infection rates low.

- Just say no to any basin bath. They are cesspools. There are disposable bath cloths. Again, they reduce the chance for infection.

- Brush your teeth. It is the best prevention of pneuminia.

- Tell EVERYONE (especially docs) to wash their friggin hands!

Best wishes to your wife and your kitty. My wife and I are cat people too, we have 3 of our own, plus a stray that came for Thanksgiving and is still here. We also take care of a small feral colony at our complex, they all have names now (and have been spayed or neutered), and we can even pet most of them. Sure is easy to get attached to cats. Our 35 pound Maine Coon (I found him at the dumpster at our last apartment) cost me 2 Super Sports for a vet bill for a urinary tract problem, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Hoping for a successful outcome for both patients.

A simple prayer for your wife:

Dear God:

Be with Carol and Tom during this difficult time. Give the Doctors and medical staff wisdom and skill. May Carol's recovery be a speedy one. Give strength and peace to the family as wait patiently during surgery. And on Christmas, may You bless their day. Thanking You God in advance for what you are going to do--Amen!

+1, Can't top that, won't try. Hope your wife does well and gives you a Christmas present of coming home early.

My Wife recently had her GB removed as an outpatient. 4 Incisions and a web-like membrane on the inside to prevent any herniation due to the enlarged size of the GB required a larger incision. 1st week was tough on her consisting of pain meds and sleep. I made soup. 2nd-3rd week she was quite sore but moving around, by 3rd week she was back attending classes. The chronic pain and discomfort was gone and she was feeling noticably better dispite the pain from the surgery.

May blessings to you and your family.

You know, things are pretty good around my house this season but I'm reading everyone's best wishes here and thinking that if (when) things ever got rough around here I've got all these really great friends. Tom's got all these really great friends.
I love this forum.

snarkypup 12-20-10 09:56 PM

Tom, I too hope for a speedy recovery for your wife, and good news for your furry pal.

abarth 12-20-10 10:06 PM

Sincerest hopes that everything turns out for the best.

KonAaron Snake 12-20-10 10:37 PM

Tom - I just read this thread. Needless to say, my best wishes go towards you and your's. If there's anything I can do to help, or if you want to talk...you know how to get a hold of me.

WNG 12-20-10 10:38 PM

Our thoughts and best wishes to your wife's recovery, Tom. It should be routine and she'll be feeling better for it. Let her know your cohorts here are all thinking of her.
And I personally hope your cat has good news and also see through it all. I'm a recent cat owner, after many years allergic. But for some miracle, I am not allergic to my 2 cats. They are a daily joy, and know the love and attachment for any pet. May your's be able to continue to purr for you.
This has been a tough and trying year. But don't throw in the towel. Karma has a way of helping those in need. I wouldn't have believed that until this month. You'll see, stay positive and it'll be fine.

Michael Angelo 12-20-10 10:45 PM

You and your family will be in my Prayers tonight. Gall Bladder surgery is very common these days.

Mike
