family health issues

I need your prayers or vibes or whatever you send.

My wife Carol goes into the hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. It's a gall bladder operation, and chances are, things will go just fine. But it will be a tough recovery. She'll be in the hospital for 4 to 6 days. Fewer, I hope, but you can't control this stuff. She'll probably be there on Christmas day, so we'll be at my sister's place for Christmas for a bit, and then the whole family will trek down to the hospital to be with her.

She left this morning to run a bunch of errands, and I got a call from the vet. Our beloved cat's cancer, which we thought we licked in February, seems to have metastatized to his lungs. We don't know for sure yet, but it doesn't look good. I've had cats before but never loved one more than this one. So while taking care of my wife, I'll have to drive 40 miles each way somehow and bring him to the veterinary oncologist. And her services are something I can't afford. Money is bad this year, of course.

Really sorry to hear of the troubles, Tom. My best friend had gall bladder surgery a few weeks back. Pretty painful, but he recovered really quickly. Diet and exercise plays a big part. Best wishes.

Best wishes, Tom, for both your wife and cat. What a lousy time of year for this all to happen (not that any time is a good time). You're family is in my thoughts.

Best of luck to all three of you!

Work on a bike while sitting at home dealing with this. I have a feeling it will be good therapy.

Bikes: Was Fuji and got my grails (Pro, Pro SR, Design Series, & Ti). Now I hunt 50's/60's road bikes.

Best wishes Tom. I'll be hoping for a speedy recovery.

I understand the pet thing too, Stephanie is a vet and we lost one earlier this year to cancer.

Tom, you and your family are in my prayers. My wife had her gall bladder removed more than ten years ago, right after my son was born...her recovery was rather quick as I recall, and she was so releaved to be free of the pain it was causing her...hopefully she'll be well enough to enjoy Christmas at home with her loved ones.

Awww... that sucks. I'm sure your wife will be fine, gall bladder surgery is routine. My ex had it a couple of years ago.

Really sorry to hear about your furry four-footer. I've had cats my whole life and know how attached you can get to them.

Take care Tom, and good luck. I'm sure your wife will come out the other end just fine. As for the cat, that's really sad. I'm a cat guy and love the things. Just lost our old guy after 18 years of companionship. Best to you Tom.

Things will be OK with your wife, Tom.
(We'll say a little prayer to make sure).

If your do lose your cat, let it go, and take some solace knowing that the loss of a pet is harder on the owner, than it is on the pet.

Tom, I will keep you and Carol in mind as I celebrate. Judging from past experience, I'm sure this is harder on you than it is on her, or your cat for that matter.
