Here is wishing your wife a very speedy recovery, and a very happy healthy new year.

I know it's a tough time of year for something like this but all will be fine I'm sure. I'll say a prayer for your wife, God Bless.

The surgery is not half as bad as a gall bladder attack. If they do an orthroscopic procedure she shouldn't be in the hospital that long. 3 small incissions (one through the belly button) and recovery is much quicker than if they have to cut her open.

It'll all be fine...best of luck.

Best wishes.

A few things to stay safe in the hosptal.

- Ask the surgeon for CHG pre-operative wipes. These are an anti-microbial body cleaner. Use them the night before and morning of surgery. They keep infection rates low.

- Just say no to any basin bath. They are cesspools. There are disposable bath cloths. Again, they reduce the chance for infection.

- Brush your teeth. It is the best prevention of pneuminia.

- Tell EVERYONE (especially docs) to wash their friggin hands!

Best wishes to your wife and your kitty. My wife and I are cat people too, we have 3 of our own, plus a stray that came for Thanksgiving and is still here. We also take care of a small feral colony at our complex, they all have names now (and have been spayed or neutered), and we can even pet most of them. Sure is easy to get attached to cats. Our 35 pound Maine Coon (I found him at the dumpster at our last apartment) cost me 2 Super Sports for a vet bill for a urinary tract problem, but I would do it again in a heartbeat. Hoping for a successful outcome for both patients.

A simple prayer for your wife:

Dear God:

Be with Carol and Tom during this difficult time. Give the Doctors and medical staff wisdom and skill. May Carol's recovery be a speedy one. Give strength and peace to the family as wait patiently during surgery. And on Christmas, may You bless their day. Thanking You God in advance for what you are going to do--Amen!

My Wife recently had her GB removed as an outpatient. 4 Incisions and a web-like membrane on the inside to prevent any herniation due to the enlarged size of the GB required a larger incision. 1st week was tough on her consisting of pain meds and sleep. I made soup. 2nd-3rd week she was quite sore but moving around, by 3rd week she was back attending classes. The chronic pain and discomfort was gone and she was feeling noticably better dispite the pain from the surgery.

May blessings to you and your family.

Bikes: one of each

You know, things are pretty good around my house this season but I'm reading everyone's best wishes here and thinking that if (when) things ever got rough around here I've got all these really great friends. Tom's got all these really great friends.
I love this forum.

Bikes: I used to have many. And I Will again.

Our thoughts and best wishes to your wife's recovery, Tom. It should be routine and she'll be feeling better for it. Let her know your cohorts here are all thinking of her.
And I personally hope your cat has good news and also see through it all. I'm a recent cat owner, after many years allergic. But for some miracle, I am not allergic to my 2 cats. They are a daily joy, and know the love and attachment for any pet. May your's be able to continue to purr for you.
This has been a tough and trying year. But don't throw in the towel. Karma has a way of helping those in need. I wouldn't have believed that until this month. You'll see, stay positive and it'll be fine.
