Bikes: 3 CCM Flyte's

CCM Flyte restoration.

Hiya guys
I inherited a CCM Flyte from my father who was given it in the 1940's by his uncle who bought it second hand around 1938ish.
My father "modernized" it in the late 40's and I am trying to get the right parts for it.

I am building it as a racing bike with low bars like in the CCM Flyte patent drawing but without mud guards. I will not use it, but hang it on the wall

I would love to get the following parts if anyone might have any leads please let me know!

CCM steering head badge.
Troxel "Steamlined" with built in tool bag. (long shot I know but if you don't ask you never get!)
New or good "GIBSON" pedal rubbers with the word on them.
Nice vintage drop bars.
Period racing hand grips?

I would be interested in hearing from anyone else with Flytes!

Kind regards
Gavin

Send me a private email. I have the badge, NOS at that, and rivets, but I am not sure which badge you will need. I have an old set of steel track bars and another old steel drop bars, off of an fifties something CCM, with hand grips.

I have been setting aside components for my fifties something CCM "Westonia", and have some spares.

Might be nice to see some pictures of your bicycle. Here's my old "Westonia"...

Man, that's sexy, even in pieces. Are those 28" wheels?
Um if they are, are they Canadian 28s (700s) or English 28s?

I'm pretty sure that the CCM Flyte is my grail bike. I'm really looking forward to seeing yours completed.

You'd kinda half expect the design to of been re-used by now, especially with monoque carbon fibre frames. Maybe not the fork though haha.
Apparently it was one of the first cromoly frames?

I could be wrong about this buy your bicycle, the CCM Flyte, is a very valuable bike. I was unaware that it was offered with drop bars.

Not sure if you have seen this...

Yep thats the machine. The one in the picture is a 1936 as it has fully painted forks, the 37 to 40 Flytes had chromed lower sections. Mine is a 37 I think, but I could be wrong on that.

I can't find the original stem anywhere!!! I have turned the place upside down looking.... very frustrating!

They may not have come from the factory with drop bars, but thats the look I want for my wall hanging Flyte
Regards
Gavin

It was far from one of the first CrMo frames, even for CCM, who had been using it on their Flyers for about a decade

It uses the non-lithographed, diamond shaped badge. I've never a Flyte with drop bars either, other than in the patent diagram.

The actual year should be easy to verify via the serial number. The CCM serial number chart for the period is available on the CCM Flyte webpage.

Canadian 28s I believe.

Hey list gurus.... I want to find out what seat would be best for the CCM if done like a 1920's 30's racer and what hand grips style to use, again if done as a racer... do you think should I ask in this thread or start a new thread about period seats and grips?
Regards
Gavin

I could see that bike with Lauterwasser bars. The grips and saddle would be a lot like this, I think it's from the '36 Raleigh catalog. Take a look at that fellow's Super Moth (I forget the company). It's got basic grips and straight brake levers but on drop handlebars

I'm sure some people have old catalogue scans from the era, I used to have some long ago.. not no more sadly, just a matter of finding out what kind of saddle was used on the ccm flyer models.
