The downtube decals look like replacements to me. A kickstand plate and the weight likely points to something like a '83ish Sport SS. Mangalloy frame and fork, looks nice and clean, should be a great rider.

Bianchi Sport SS. Not 1983-ish but definitely 1983, manufactured by Bianchi's Japanese contractor. Definitely replacement decals. Canadian market Bianchi did not have a unique serial number format. Once you've lost the OEM decals you can't be 100% positive but the Japanese built, Canadian market models during this era typically had fully chromed forks, so this likely isn't a Canadian market model.

1982 Sport SS with that crown have surfaced, so it's likely OEM.

My daughter recently bought a used Bianchi Volpe, and I'd love some help tracking down the age. Below is a pic (hope this works...). It has Shimano Tiagra Flightdeck brifters, 9 sp Tiagra on the rear, 3 speed Sora up front. Avid 15C cantis. Has a chrome fork, and the front wheel is definitely a replacement. Serial number from the bottom bracket would appear to me to be "HOHO 5007" so I'm guessing it was a Christmas bike... :-)

Tiagra and Sora, if OEM, would place it no older than the 2000 model year. The serial number may indicate a Hodaka built frame from August 2000. That's late enough in the year to be a 2001 model. The 2001 specs show Tiagra with a Deore rear derailleur and Avid brakes. So, a 2001, with some changes is a definite possibilty. To this end, I'd be checking the two letter date codes found the Shimano components. The format, location and cypher of the Shimano date codes can be found here; Date of Manufacture of Bicycle Components can be used to date a bike: component dating . Since there is a possibility that some of the components may have been changed, you should check as many as possible. As an example, attached is a picture of the back of a Shimano Altus rear derailleur showing a date code of' 'IJ '(i.e. 2010, October). Please post what you find.

The components are first generation Tiagra (4400). 2nd generationTiagra (4500 series) was introduced for 2007, so it should be 2000-2006.

I recently bought this vintage Bianchi racing bike which is still in quite a good state and I'm planning to participate in Eroica cycling rides with it, so I would like to know more about it. I would like to know what model it is and what building year.

If possible, i would also like to know whether all the original parts are still there. Right now, for better recognition, it has:

Divierl, welcome to the forums. What you have is a Bianchi Rekord 74, which was the bottom of the line racing model with a hi-tensile steel frame. It should be circa 1974-1977. Unfortunately, the serial number as reported is incomplete, so it cannot be narrowed down further.

The picture is poor but based on your description there is little, if any original equipment. The Shimano shift levers, SR crankset and Dia-Compe brakes are incorrect and the Nuovo Record derailleurs are an upgrade over the original Campagnolo derailleurs. The post and saddle are too modern. The current wheels appear to be wired-on style, as opposed to the correct tubular style.

Given the level of the bicycle, I'm not sure it warrants seeking out the correct, original parts. It will likely be quite expensive take a long time and far exceed the value of the bicycle. I'd probably just enjoy it in its current state.

The serial number is I*6 1796. So a 1986 Nuova Alloro?

There is little (but some) match with a Nuova Alloro in the 1987 catalog on velobase. No luck on the other catalog sites I found online. If it's showing up in any '86 catalogs you might have at home, I'd love to get a pic or scan. The bike has a sticker from a MA bike shop, so I would assume it's a U.S. market model.

in the US market the '87 Nuovo Alloro was a CampI Victory bike. The Matrix sticker doesn't jive but otherwise it looks like an '86. The '86 Nuovo Alloro would be a Formula II frame but maybe this a Canadian model?

I’m looking to pick this bike up for a friend from a seller online. Trying to place the year and model, but no real information was given. It’s posted as a “Vintage Bianchi Racing Bike” and it looks like it’s out of the ‘80s, but I’m not a Bianchi connoisseur so that’s about all I’ve got. Everything is pointing to a mid-1980s, upper entry level, Japanese manufactured model. Ignoring the replacement Axiom post and Sprint rear derailleur, the ARx shift system dates it 1982-1986, while what appears to be Z-series calipers place it no older than 1984. These, in conjunction with the crankset are consistent with a 1984 Bianchi Bici II. I'm not sure if the fork is chromed or not but chromed forks are typical of the Canadian market models of the era. However, it does not appear to have the Piaggio decal used on all 1980-1984 models. Consequently, I suspect it may be a 1985 version, possibly 1986. However, we'd need the serial number to be sure. It would also be informative to have a good picture of the tubing decal.

Sean, this is definitely a 1985 model, as the serial number indicates February 1985. That explains the missing Piaggio decal. The brakes are Shimano Z-series. It's now clear that the fork is chromed, so it is Canadian market. Tubing and components, except for the previously mentioned rear derailleur and seat post, are the same as for the 1984 Bianchi Bici II. So, you've got yourself a 1985 Bianchi Bici II. Enjoy!

Hi all! Last year I got a beautiful Bianchi road bike which I believe it is from the 90s. It is definitely Italian as it has the old sticker of the Italian shop that sold it (Cicli Asteggiano, Mondovì).

Pedals, saddle and bottle cages were swapped after I bought the bike.

It is very similar to the Bianchi Vento 504 but as far as I know the Vento series was not sold in Italy and didn't have the Bianchi signature sticker on the top tube.
