Okay, here is the finished product. I did purchase decals (I did study and compare a lot of bike images and am aware that they are very subtle) and used white with Dark Green outline (although it looks black).
The frame does look better once it was scrubbed and cleaned.
Even used the AME hoods. I really dislike bare levers. Only wished I had a 9 spline tool to better clean rear hub.

That was fast, much appreciated! How did you read that from the serial, if I may ask?

Ercan 07-17-20 04:52 AM

SW4121318 serial number that could not be reached.

As I see you can somehow reach manufacture date from serial number .

I have asked serial: SW4121318 number above. Could you please inform you have not replied because this serial is not recognizable or reachable? Thank you.

I do not recognize that as a a known (to me) Bianchi serial number format. There are several ways in which it could be reverse engineered, with the most likely being a 1975, 1985 or 1995 model being manufactured in late 1974, 1984 or 1994. Photographs may aid in the identification, though that may be complicated if you are not located in North America, as most members are American based and Bianchi models and sources often varied by region. Ignore the forum warnings that you cannot post photographs until you have reached 10 posts. The photographs will be deposited in gallery album where members can view them.

Hi, I am trying to identify an old Bianchi with Ishiwata Magny tubing. Reading elsewhere on the forum indicates "that it was contract manufactured in Japan but it's not the top Japanese model, the Limited. which used CrMo tubing. However, it's also not the bottom of the line model, the Standard, with hi-tensile tubing." Serial number is BS588389. Says B3 under the bottom bracket - I would guess this is a part number? Can we date the bike - early 80's but which year? Also can we identify the factory of manufacture? Thanks!

It's a 1985, Japanese manufactured model. However, that's about all I can tell you. The Japanese manufacturer is unknown (to me). Even if I had a good quality, drive side photo , from which I could identify the components, I couldn't tell you the model, as European model names were typically different from the Canadian and American models with which I'm familiar.

Thank you for reply. There is another code which I have misseen. P5161865 ( P could be 8 , not sure)

I couldn't find a way to upload the photos, I will check again.

The photos are uploading but we'll need more that close-ups of the serial number. However, I do see what appears to a brazed-on kickstand plate, which would typically indicate a low end model. Also, it has a plastic cable routing guide under the BB shell, which typically indicates no earlier than mid-1980s. Finally, there are huge blobs of brazing material at the junction of the BB shell and down tube, so it doesn't appear to be lugged but it's also not TIG welded. That would place it 1980s and, based on the two S/N numbers, likely a circa 1985 model. I haven't seen P-codes on Bianchi in the past. One manufacturer that used P-codes was Pacific Cycle, a Taiwanese manufacturer.

Identification Help

Hi folks!

I could use some help in identifying what year/make my Bianchi is. It was given to me years ago but I don’t have much info about it (I’ve tried searching for its serial number). Some info below.

S/N: BS353816
Decals: Piaggio, Bianchi, and Eduardo Bianchi (blue and gold)
Frame: white

I imagine it’s Japanese because most of its parts are?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums, Yes, it's a Japanese manufactured model, specifically from 1983. Typically, during this era, the presence of chromed forks without any signs of frame damage behind the head lugs, indicates a Canadian market model. This would be the equivalent of the USA market Bianchi Limited.

Hello, I started a thread asking about bianchi serial number not knowing this one existed... :bang:

From my post:
I recently scooped up at Bianchi frame with carbon fork and mavic cxp33 rims. The frame is generally in bad condition, paint stripped off completely with no decals. I hope to restore this as a project, but really have no idea what the model or the manufacture year is. Was hoping to get the information so I can start looking up the correct color way and parts... I plan to powder coat it and add the decals from the correct time period.

This is the Serial no.: WBK2567627 I found on the frame.

Any and all help is much appreciated :-)

Whenever I see a serial number that has a prefix consisting of three letters, with the first being a 'W', my thoughts automatically go to a Danish market bicycle. However, the last letter would be also be a letter. Any chance that the '7' is actually a 'Z'?

urbanputt7 07-24-20 05:01 PM

Upon taking a closer look.. it appears the last letter is "T"

Need help with vintage Bianchi.

Sorry to jump into this thread, but am new to this. I have a vintage early to mid 80s Celeste Bianchi that I’m trying to identify. Serial number is 59 D-266. I know the 59 is the frame size. Thanks.

Assuming that it is a 'T' and that it is Danish market, then the frame is from either 1980 or 2001. The latter would seem more likely , assuming the carbon fibre fork is also OEM.

The seial number, as reported, is atypical for Bianchi. There should be another number associated with the 'D'. Typically, it would precede the 'D', but Bianch QC left something to be desired, so it be after the 'D'. Offhand, i don't think it's early 1980s as most members miss the serial numbers from this period, which are located on both sides of the seat lug. Also, you mention the frame size stamps, suggesting, the numbers are on the BB shell, which would push into the late 1980s.

Thanks for the feedback. One with the same frame and serial number format just showed up on eBay. I’ve been looking for 3 years and one shows up a couple days ago. Serial number under the bottom bracket is 59 (Drive side) and D.297 (opposite side). Listed as an 80s Specialissima Mondale Reparto Course. Not sure what the difference is between the D.297 and mine that is D.266. I have seen other 80s Specialissima Bianchis with the same serial numbers format, but with a C rather than D. So, can I assume the eBay posting is correct. I’ll post pictures as soon a I have enough posts.

It looks like a 2001 Veloce... same fork too! Thank you so much for the ID... now time to find the parts and begin the adventure.

I would post a current photo, but unfortunately am not able to add attachments yet...

Appreciate the help :-)

Welcome to the forums. Assuming the Tiagra is OEM, it should be from 2013. The USA model equipped with Tiagra in 2013 was the Imola but yours is a Danish market model and have a different name.

Can any Bianchi expert help? I am trying to establish what brakes the Bianchi Folgorissima came with? When the bike was renamed the Paris Roubaix they were the Universal Mod 50. I believe the Folgorissima also had Universal Mod 50, but these brakes did not come out until 1950. The Folgorissima was produced for one year spanning 1949/1950. Does that mean they had early release of the Mod 50 brakes or was the first bikes fitted with the Universal Mod 39?
My gut says the Folgorissima came initially with the Mod 39 and then then Mod 50 - but does anyone know?

Thanks in advance

Clive

FWIW, the 1949 Bianchi team bicycles were fitted with Model 39, based on extant race photos. There was a Folgorissima for sale on Ebay a few months ago and , IIRC, it had Model 39. If you do an "Advanced Search" of closed auctions, the listing should be viewable.
