Source for Rear Racks
Hi All.
Just thought I would share an insight I stumbled upon today... I picked up a 1992 Bridgestone MB-5 today, and it was wearing a Rhode Gear Co-Pilot child seat, which was mounted on a very nice Blackburn expedition style (no "fender" plate) rack. So... if you're looking for a nice rack (ha!) maybe looking for old Rhode Gear seats would net you a nice touring rack.

The Rhode Gear Co-Pilot is still available, but it no longer uses the "Rhode Gear" name. It does indeed use the Blackburn EXP 1 rack as its structural base. Ideally one can purchase a second rack at your LBS for a second bike so that a second bike in the family can use the same carrier. See:

Exactly. The rack goes for $30-45 new. Sometimes people sell the old seats for pennies because they're beat, but those Blackburn racks are built like tanks. Sometimes (like in my case) the seat comes with an old worn out bike for short money.
I guess my point is, if you're an inveterate cheapskate, this is a way to get a great rack for almost nothing.
