Bikes: '93 Bridgestone RB-1, '91 Specialized Allez Epic, '85 Raleigh Team Pro, '78 Andre Bertin, early '90s F. Moser Leader AX , '85 Centurion Equipe, '98 Litespeed Tuscany, '89 Klein Quantum, '80 Nishiki Superbe, '83 Peckham, '84 Fuji Opus III

Attention San Francisco BF'ers

In San Francisco I possibly need help in picking up and packing a full bike per my instructions. Expenses/compensation provided. Experience necessary.

Mods, if there's a more appropriate place for this, please move it.

Thanks,

Julian

Have you looked through the "Facilitators" sticky for a member in San Francisco?

Weird, that Facet is listed in sfbay and lasvegas, but the shop at the URL is in LA...

I think it's way, way, way South of San Francisco...ad is trolling for SF buyers but located in Huntington Beach, CA. (If it was in SF I'd offer to help)

Appreciations for the, uh, guesses/contributions so far. It's not the Facet.

I'm corresponding with someone about a different bike and the process has been of a most general nature to this point, including the precise location. Heretofore, there's been no need to know more than it's in "San Francisco".

We all understand that could mean the city or the area.......or the market.

Now that I'm more seriously interested, a situation has developed where the seller has revealed his intention to rely on a "bike shop" to pack and ship. I don't trust that eventuality given the quality and value of the bike, so I'm trying to round up some friendly and more reliable help from a brother BF'er.

I'll ask for the exact location of the bike and make that known to anyone who feels willing to consider helping.

Thanks all.

Julian

Thanks, yes I went there first. Didn't see anyone even close.

I didn't think it was the Facet; not your size and you already have a killer yellow bike.

There is another Facet in Corvallis, OR.

Hopefully, a BF member will come through.

If it is in San Francisco, I can do it if Alan doesn't want to. He's right in the city, but I could always BART over there.

I suspect Rob is being facetious. However, if I wanted a yellow aluminum Centurion from the mid-80's, he'd be the first I'd go for build advice!

I'm in Sacramento, from which some guys sometimes
advertise higher end stuff in the Bay Area CL thinking
that's where the money is. (Come to think of it, they
may be right.) Anyway, if it turns out your mystery
guy is up here, I can probably do it.

Certainly I can dismantle and ship a bike. They generally
go back together afterwards.

As my wife would ask, "Are you sure you really need
another bicycle, dear?"

I can do the East Bay, if that's where it turns out to be. We'll need a city name to nail it down.

Sounds good! If it's closer to John he can take it if he wants.

I love how many of us there are in this area.

When I read "way, way" south of SF, I thought, ooh, might be in my neck of the woods, Monterey. Then read "Huntington Beach"!!!...Duh, that's in the South Pole somewhere.

I didn't have full info on precise location of my seller when I posted earlier. I talk with him when I catch him and the sale process is ongoing and fluid.

The bike is in the city of San Francisco. My seller drives regularly between there and San Mateo. He's cooperative to the extent that he will arrange delivery to an agreeable spot between the two cities. He's amenable to holding onto the bike after sale to accommodate the schedule of my facilitator.

The sale - if consumated - will be within a week, I expect. I'm in no hurry to receive the bike on my end. I am only concerned with the security of it in the packing and shipping. BTW, I believe in the honesty of the seller but he insists on using a bike shop to prepare and ship. This is an uncertainty I don't trust. Thus the need for my call for help.

It's late here in the East. I must be brief. There's more to add and I will get to that ASAP, tomorrow. Hope this is helpful to those considering becoming involved.

Thanks to all,

Julian

it's in SF City proper, so I'm on the case...at least so far...you East Bayers and South Bayers can stand by to lend a hand, if needed...and thanks...

So, it's settled. unworthy1 and I will work on this together.

Thanks to all others. MetinUz thanks. DRietz thanks.

Bigbossman, I'm sending you a PM with a few additional thoughts. Thanks for your kind offer to help.

Robbietunes for President.
